Our simulations are true hands-on learning in a virtual environment.In July 2025, eDynamic Learning was acquired by Pearson Education Inc., the world’s leading learning company.Role OverviewWe are seeking a Software Engineering Manager to lead high-performing engineering teams in building and scaling impactful educational technology products.In this role, you will focus on team leadership, delivery execution, and operational excellence, ensuring your teams consistently deliver high-quality software aligned with business and product goals.You will partner closely with a Principal Engineer, who provides cross-team technical leadership and architectural guidance. Together, you will ensure strong execution, sound technical decisions, and scalable systems—without requiring the Engineering Manager role to operate at a Principal level of technical depth.ResponsibilitiesLead, mentor, and develop engineers, fostering strong team performance, engagement, and career growthOwn delivery outcomes, ensuring projects are delivered on time, with high quality and predictabilityPartner with Product to define priorities, scope work, and align on business goalsCollaborate with the Principal Engineer on technical direction, architecture, and complex problem-solvingEstablish and maintain effective engineering processes, rituals, and delivery metricsEnsure teams build secure, reliable, and maintainable softwareDrive planning, execution, and continuous improvement across the teamIdentify and manage risks, dependencies, and trade-offs to maintain delivery momentumSupport hiring, onboarding, and team scaling as neededFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementCommunicate clearly with stakeholders on progress, risks, and outcomesIdeal QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience12 years of experience in software engineering, with 3+ years in a people management roleProven ability to lead teams in delivering complex software projects in a remote environmentStrong technical foundation in Node.js, TypeScript, React, and modern web architecturesExperience working with Principal or Staff Engineers in a complementary leadership model (preferred)Experience delivering production-grade systems with modern DevOps practicesFamiliarity with AWS, Docker, Linux, and CI/CD pipelinesDemonstrated ability to balance technical trade-offs, delivery timelines, and business prioritiesLegally eligible to work in Canada and/or the U.S.SkillsStrong people leadership and coaching skillsExcellent execution and delivery management capabilitiesAbility to drive alignment and clarity across teams and stakeholdersSolid technical judgment, with the ability to partner effectively on architectural decisionsStrong communication skills across technical and non-technical audiencesPragmatic mindset focused on delivering business value efficientlySelf-starter who thrives in a remote, fast-paced environmentSalary RangeCAD$180,000 - $220,000 (DOE) + Annual Bonus + Benefits
