About the RoleInterSpatial Analytics is seeking a hands-on AI-GIS Engineer to build a proof of concept that connects AI/LLMs with GIS systems.The goal is to develop a prototype that enables users to ask natural-language questions, allowing AI to interpret GIS data, execute basic spatial queries or analysis, and return results through a web interface.GIS experience is preferred but not required.What You'll BuildA React.js web interface for AI-driven GIS queriesA backend service connecting AI models with GIS data and toolsAI workflows using tool calling, agents, or automation techniquesAPI integrations with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, feature services, or spatial datasetsA basic RAG workflow for GIS layers, metadata, fields, and documentationOutput formats including maps, tables, or written summariesRequirementsExperience building AI/LLM applicationsFamiliarity with tools such as OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LangGraph, or LlamaIndexExperience with AI tool calling, function calling, agents, or automation workflowsProficiency in React.js and JavaScript/TypeScriptBackend development experience (Python, Node.js, or similar)Experience working with REST APIsAbility to translate concepts into working prototypesStrong problem-solving and documentation skillsPreferred SkillsExperience with RAG pipelines, embeddings, and vector databasesFamiliarity with frameworks such as FastAPI, Flask, or ExpressExperience with ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS REST API, or ArcGIS Maps SDK for JavaScriptGeneral understanding of GIS concepts including maps, layers, spatial queries, and geospatial analysis
