You will translate complex budgeting and financial planning requirements into scalable, reliable technical solutions that enhance fiscal control, transparency, and decision-making.While financial reporting and ACFR outputs are important downstream results, this role is primarily focused on upstream budgeting, planning, and financial management workflows that drive stronger financial outcomes.Key Responsibilities:Partner with Sales, Product, and Engineering teams to understand government budgeting, planning, and financial management needsAnalyze budget structures, chart of accounts, fund hierarchies, and source system data to ensure successful implementation of budgeting and forecasting solutionsTranslate budgeting policies, financial planning requirements, and operational constraints into clear technical specifications and solution designsDesign and support solutions that streamline annual budgets, multi-year forecasts, capital improvement plans (CIP), and scenario modelingSupport proof-of-concept builds, demos, and technical presentations focused on budgeting workflows, financial planning, and fiscal transparencyDevelop and optimize queries, scripts, and reports that support budget preparation, variance analysis, forecasting accuracy, and executive reportingTroubleshoot data, planning, and integration issues during and after implementation—especially during budget season and mid-year adjustmentsCreate and maintain documentation, best practices, and implementation guidance related to budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning use casesTravel ~20-30% of the time to provide product demonstrations to prospective clients and company product overview presentations at trade showsCritical Skills/Experience:Degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field; experience with ERP systems, budgeting and planning platforms, or financial management systems strongly preferredExperience designing or implementing solutions that support budget development, forecasting, fund accounting, or reporting in the public sectorStrong understanding of public-sector finance concepts such as funds, appropriations, encumbrances, and budgetary controlsAbility to analyze complex financial and operational requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutionsExceptional communication skills, with the ability to explain budgeting and financial planning concepts to finance, technical, and executive audiencesExperience delivering pre-sales demos or solution presentations to U.S. government finance or budget teams is a strong advantageHighly detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable working in deadline-driven, stakeholder-focused environmentsAbility to work Mountain and/or Pacific United States time zone hours based upon client needThe Ideal ClearGov Candidate:Self-motivated, self-starter with a zeal to winGreat communicator; strong oral and written skillsAbility to think creatively and innovativelyHands-on problem solver who enjoys cracking difficult nutsQuick study – able to pick up and apply new concepts in a hurryTrack record of achievementEnjoys working on and helping to build outstanding teamsDemonstrates an entrepreneurial spirit and gets stuff doneA sense of humor and don’t take themselves too seriouslyPassionate about helping government agencies improve budgeting, forecasting, and financial decision-makingEnjoys working at the intersection of finance, data, and technologyComfortable diving into both technical and financial details while keeping fiscal outcomes and operational efficiency in focusCollaborative, curious, and motivated by solving complex public-sector financial planning challengesTake pride in building solutions that improve accountability, transparency, and long-term financial sustainabilityWhy Join Us:Flexible, remote workChance to make a meaningful impact on government and school district transparency and accountabilityOpportunity to work in a fast-paced, fun, and collaborative environmentCompetitive salary and benefits package (see below)Professional growth opportunitiesCompensation:In the spirit of transparency, we are excited to share the base salary for this position is $80,000 - $130,000 USD exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. In addition to your base salary, this position has an uncapped variable first year target range of $100,000 - $150,000 USD. If you are hired at ClearGov, your final base salary compensation will be determined by factors such as skills, interview performance, education and/or experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary for the role. Hiring beyond the base range would not be typical in order to allow for future & continued salary growth.
