Job DescriptionVetsEZ is seeking a Solutions Architect to provide technical leadership and architectural guidance for the integration of Decision Precision Plus (DP+) and backend microservices within the VA’s Health Service Mesh (HSM). This role will drive the design, implementation, and modernization of cloud-native, standards-based healthcare solutions, ensuring alignment with VA enterprise architecture and federal compliance standards.Responsibilities:Lead the technical vision and system architecture for DP+ integration and backend shared services supporting Lung Cancer Screening (LCS) and Clinical Decision Support (CDS) Hooks.Design and implement scalable, reusable microservices using modern frameworks (Java/Spring Boot, Kubernetes, AWS) and healthcare standards (FHIR, OpenAPI).Collaborate with stakeholders, product owners, and development teams to gather requirements and translate them into detailed architectural plans and technical roadmaps.Develop and maintain architectural diagrams, system/network/deployment diagrams, solution context diagrams, interaction models, sequence diagrams, and process flows.Ensure interoperability and integration across VA EHR systems (CPRS, Cerner Oracle, VistA) and external platforms.Oversee the adoption of cloud platforms and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipeline setup (Jenkins), observability, and security.Guide the team in implementing policy engines, authentication (OAuth), and secure service design.Provide technical leadership in architecture reviews, troubleshooting, performance tuning, and compliance with federal standards.Author and maintain comprehensive technical documentation (system design documents, Swagger/OpenAPI specs, onboarding packages).Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and VA standards to propose innovative solutions.Participate in Agile ceremonies and foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.10+ years of experience in solution architecture, software development, and cloud-native system design.Proven experience designing and implementing microservices architectures in healthcare or federal IT environments.Deep knowledge of FHIR, RESTful APIs, OpenAPI, and integration with EHR systems.Hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot), Kubernetes, AWS, and DevOps tools (Jenkins, CI/CD).Strong understanding of security, compliance, and policy-based access control in cloud environments.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality technical documentation.U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.Additional Qualifications:Advanced certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or similar.Prior experience supporting VA programs, Cerner Oracle, or federal healthcare initiatives.Experience with policy engine integration, OAuth authentication, and observability tools (Dynatrace, Prometheus).Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Git, Jenkins).Experience developing onboarding packages and technical enablement materials.Benefits:Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance401(k) with Employer MatchPTO and Federal HolidaysCorporate-provided LaptopTraining and Professional Development OpportunitiesRemote OpportunityNote: Selected candidates will be required to complete fingerprinting at a government facility and undergo a background check as part of the hiring process.Equal Opportunity Disclaimer:VetsEZ is an equal opportunity employer.
