The Data Center ICT Technical Manager is responsible for leading technical operations and project delivery within the data centre white space. This role focuses on rack deployment, structured cabling, and infrastructure projects, ensuring efficient use of space, power, and connectivity while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.The role combines hands-on technical expertise with operational leadership and project management, ensuring all installations, moves, and changes within the data hall are delivered effectively in fast-paced, mission-critical environments.Key AccountabilitiesWhite Space & Infrastructure ManagementOversee day-to-day operations within data centre white space (data halls)Manage rack layout, allocation, and capacity planning (space, power, network)Maintain and optimise rack space utilisation and airflow (hot/cold aisle containment)Ensure accuracy of data within DCIM systems for reporting and capacity managementSupport initiatives to improve service availability across all sitesRack Installation, IMAC & CablingLead IT equipment installations, moves, additions, and changes (IMAC)Oversee rack installation, relocation, and decommissioning activitiesManage structured cabling systems (fibre and copper), including installation and patchingEnsure adherence to cabling standards, labelling, and best practicesInterpret and execute High-Level Designs (HLDs) and patching schedulesProject Delivery & GovernanceDeliver white space infrastructure projects (deployments, expansions, migrations)Manage:Project trackers and reportingFinancial trackers and cost controlRAID logs, critical paths, and resource planningProvide regular customer progress reporting and updatesEnsure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budgetMentor customers to improve alignment, delivery efficiency, and outcomesOperational & Performance ManagementOversee efficiency of operational processes and workflowsDevelop plans to maximise productivity and operational efficiencyMonitor departmental and project performance metricsAnalyse data and generate reports to identify improvement opportunitiesMaintain and enforce quality standards across all activitiesLeadership & Team ManagementManage, supervise, and mentor technical staff and contractorsMonitor performance and provide training and developmentFoster a high-performance, safety-first, and customer-focused cultureCoordinate cross-functional teams, suppliers, and stakeholdersCompliance, Risk & SafetyEnsure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulationsConduct Health & Safety audits, risk assessments, and reportingMaintain strong awareness of the Health & Safety at Work ActSupport audit processes and ensure documentation is accurate and up to dateCustomer & Stakeholder EngagementBuild and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliersRepresent the organisation in customer and supplier forumsUnderstand contractual obligations and manage delivery accordinglyInfluence stakeholders to align with best practices and standardsRequired SkillsMinimum 5 years’ experience working in a data centre environmentStrong understanding of data centre white space operationsExperience with rack installation, structured cabling (fibre & copper), and containment systemsKnowledge of:Hot and cold aisle designPower Usage Effectiveness (PUE)Data centre power and cooling principlesUnderstanding of IT network infrastructure and cabling systemsProven success delivering customer requirements in critical infrastructure environmentsDemonstrable project management training or certificationGCSE (or equivalent) in Mathematics and EnglishDegree in operations management, engineering, or business administration (desirable)Security ClearanceThis role requires eligibility for Security Check (SC) / NPPV3 clearance.Applicants must meet residency and eligibility requirements, including continuous residence in the UK for the past 5 years (subject to clearance criteria).Preferred SkillsData centre certifications (e.g., CDCTP, CDCP)BICSI or ANSI/TIA-942 accreditationITIL, PRINCE2, or PMP certificationMechanical or Electrical qualifications/experienceUnderstanding of LEAN methodology and process improvementKnowledge of IMAC processes and complexitiesThe listed salary range for this position is an estimate based on the competitive job market.
