Responsibilities
We’re looking for a Back-End Developer, ideally with some front-end experience, to join our fast-growing, mission-driven startup. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in lean, dynamic environments and wants to make a high impact on both our platform and client integrations.
What You’ll Do
* Design, develop, and maintain REST APIs for our platform and clients.
* Integrate with partner systems (ATS, HRIS, background check providers, etc.) using REST APIs and webhooks.
* Build and launch fraud detection products and features.
* Enhance internal tools and client-facing interfaces.
* Improve performance, scalability, and maintainability across our stack.
* Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver secure, reliable, and scalable solutions.
Current Tech Stack
* Front-End: PHP 7.1 (CodeIgniter 2), Angular 1.4, jQuery.
* Back-End: Java 11, Spring 4, Hibernate 5, Tomcat 9, MySQL 5.7.
Upcoming Tech Stack
* Front-End: PHP 8.3 (CodeIgniter 4), Angular 1.4, jQuery 3.7.
* Back-End: Java 22, Spring Boot 3.3, Hibernate 6, Tomcat 10, MySQL 8.
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience designing, building, and maintaining REST APIs (Java + Spring Boot strongly preferred).
* Hands-on experience integrating third-party APIs and building secure, robust endpoints.
* Strong background in Java, Spring Boot, MySQL, and RESTful services.
* Solid understanding of API security (OAuth2, JWT, API keys).
* Experience in performance optimization, scalability, and clean code practices.
* Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a remote-first team.
* Bonus: Experience with front-end frameworks such as PHP (CodeIgniter) or jQuery.
* Availability for 5–6 hours of overlap with U.S. working hours.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
* Proven experience as a Backend Developer delivering production-grade applications.
* Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage complex technical projects.
* Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
Location
* 100% remote, open to global candidates, with preference for those able to overlap with U.S. hours (5–6 hours/day).
