Requirements and responsibilities


Responsibilities: - Assist attorneys and paralegals in preparing and filing immigration petitions, applications, and supporting documentation. - Prepare immigration forms such as family-based petitions, employment-based petitions, naturalization, adjustment of status, asylum, DACA, VAWA, U visas, and other USCIS filings. - Conduct client intake interviews and gather required documents for case preparation. - Communicate with clients regarding case status, document requests, and appointment scheduling. - Draft legal correspondence, affidavits, declarations, cover letters, and supporting documents. - Review applications and supporting evidence for completeness and accuracy before submission. - Maintain and update client records using immigration case management software. - Track filing deadlines, biometrics appointments, interviews, RFEs (Requests for Evidence), and court dates. - Monitor case progress through USCIS, EOIR, NVC, and other government portals. - Translate documents and interpret conversations when serving bilingual clients (if applicable). - Request and organize supporting documentation from clients, employers, government agencies, and third parties. - Prepare filing packages and ensure compliance with USCIS, EOIR, DOS, and other immigration agency requirements. - Maintain confidentiality of sensitive client information. - Provide administrative support, including answering phones, managing emails, scheduling appointments, and maintaining electronic and physical files. Requirements: - Previous experience as an Immigration Legal Assistant or Immigration Paralegal preferred. - Knowledge of U.S. immigration laws, procedures, and immigration forms. - Experience preparing and filing applications with USCIS, EOIR, NVC, and the Department of State. - Familiarity with family-based, employment-based, humanitarian, and removal defense immigration matters. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines. - High attention to detail and accuracy. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Adobe Acrobat, and immigration case management software (e.g., INSZoom, Docketwise, LawLogix, Clio, MyCase). - Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and professionalism. - Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines. - Reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office (for remote positions). - Bilingual in English and Spanish, French, or another language is a strong advantage. - Associate's or Bachelor's degree, or equivalent legal support experience, preferred. Preferred Qualifications: - 2+ years of experience supporting an immigration law firm (United States). - Experience handling high-volume immigration caseloads. - Familiarity with USCIS online filing systems and e-filing procedures. - Experience responding to Requests for Evidence (RFEs) and Notices of Intent to Deny (NOIDs). - Knowledge of legal terminology and document preparation standards. - Ability to work in a fast-paced, client-focused legal environment.
