Requirements and responsibilities

We're hiring for (Remote-First) Engineering Leads at IRIS Education. An Engineering Lead at IRIS is a hands-on technical leader who owns delivery, raises the bar on engineering quality, and develops the people around them, all while staying close to the code. This role is built for someone who loves to build. You'll spend 50% of your time hands-on in the code and using AI agentic tools, 25% on line management duties, and 25% on delivery leadership — a balance designed for someone who wants to lead while still prioritising engineering craft. These roles are within teams going through a genuine transformation: cloud-native, AI-first, using .NET and TypeScript, and moving fast. The engineers who thrive here have already changed how they work because of AI — they see it as a fundamental shift in how software gets built, and they're bringing their teams along on that journey. What will make you stand out:Technically deep — proud of your craft and still want to be in the codeCommercially minded — you understand that great engineering serves a business outcome, and you're comfortable making pragmatic calls under pressureResilient — priorities shift, commitments change, and you adapt and deliverA leader by example — you've already been mentoring, guiding, and raising the bar around youOn the management side — deep technical expertise and empathy combined with concrete examples of leading and developing people is exactly the profile I'm looking for.First-time managers with the right foundation are very much welcome. We're fully remote, PE-backed, and growing fast in EdTech — real pace, real ambition, and a genuine opportunity to shape how engineering works at scale.Apply via the link or drop me a message directly. No third party recruiters at this time.
