This is a rare opportunity to help shape the tools, pipelines, and practices that every engineer at Pion depends on to do their best work.You will build and maintain the internal tooling that powers our product engineering teams — from CI/CD pipelines and golden path templates to developer onboarding and AI tooling configuration. No two days look the same: you might be auditing repositories for AI config compliance in the morning and pairing with a product engineer to debug a flaky pipeline in the afternoon.This role sits at the intersection of engineering craft and developer empathy. You'll be part of a small, high-trust team with real ownership and direct visibility from engineering leadership. As we grow, so will your responsibilities — this is a role with a clear path upward.Responsibilities include-Help instrument CI/CD metrics and contribute to our DevX health dashboardWork on standardising AI tooling configs (Claude/Cursor rules, MCP server configs, Windsurf) across all of our repositoriesMaintain and improve our golden path service templatesTriage and respond to developer support requests from platform, product or data engineersContribute to our onboarding documentation and local environment setup toolingWe're not looking for someone who ticks every box — we're looking for someone curious, thoughtful, and keen to grow in a DevX or platform engineering direction.You'll be a good fit if you:Have some hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or similar)Are comfortable working in a Linux/Unix environment and writing shell scripts or basic automationHave worked with at least one backend language (we're primarily TypeScript/Node.js but we care more about transferable skills than specifics)Understand the basics of version control workflows — branching, MRs, code reviewAre genuinely interested in the developer experience problem: you've felt friction in your own workflow and you want to fix it for othersCommunicate clearly and aren't afraid to ask questions or flag when something doesn't make senseBonus points for:Experience with observability tooling (Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)Familiarity with AI coding tools (Cursor, Claude, Windsurf, Copilot) and their configurationExposure to infrastructure-as-code or container-based workflowsExperience contributing to internal tooling, shared libraries, or developer platformsBenefitsLife at Pion.Let’s take a look at a few things that make Pion an amazing place to work…💰 Competitive salary.🌴 30 days annual leave, plus bank holidays.🏆 Accredited 'Great Place To Work’ company in three categories.🧠 Commitment to personal development and career growth, coaching workshops and progression plans.👩🏽‍💻Remote-first working environment.
