We have a strong global presence with offices in the US (San Francisco, New York, and Boston), Europe (London, Zurich, Netherlands), and India.As a Senior Consultant, Patient Services, Trade & Distribution with Blue Matter, you will join a startup firm with a dynamic and growing team of seasoned consultants, and have the opportunity to help grow and build the company. You will work collaboratively with senior internal and client team members to address critical business issues in biotechnology and pharmaceuticals, and deliver value through providing innovative and actionable solutions to our clients.Primary ResponsibilitiesExecute on assigned project tasksPrepare materials for project meetingsExecute analysis of primary and secondary research effortsCreate and utilize analytical tools to support decision makingDevelop materials communicating results of analysesIdentify key insights, recommendations, opportunities, and threats to inform corporate andcommercial strategiesDemonstrate accountability for completion of project responsibilitiesRegularly engage senior level clientsDesired Experience and SkillsUnderstanding of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries with a focus on marketaccess related roles (i.e. pricing, contracting, market access analytics, payer mix, providermix, channel strategy, specialty pharmacy and IDN dynamics, patient services and patientaccess)Demonstrated ability to integrate business and industry knowledge in developing creativesolutionsStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and oral communication skillsSolid time management skillsDemonstrated ability to work in team environmentProficiency in PowerPoint and ExcelSpecialized Competency Areas: Patient Services, Trade, and DistributionPatient ServicesDeep fluency across the hub services ecosystem, including benefits verification, priorauthorization, appeals support, copay assistance, patient assistance programs (PAPs), andfree drug programsWorking knowledge of the hub vendor landscape (e.g., AssistRx, Lash, CareMetx,TrialCard/Mercalis) with the ability to advise clients on build vs. buy decisionsExperience designing patient services models tailored to therapeutic area dynamics,including distinct patient journeys across oncology, rare disease, and specialty immunologyProficiency in adherence and persistence program design, nurse educator and fieldreimbursement manager (FRM) models, and patient-reported outcomes integrationFamiliarity with digital patient engagement platforms and emerging technology enablersacross the patient journeyCommand of operational performance metrics, including time-to-therapy, prior authorizationapproval rates, and funnel abandonment ratesTradeStrong channel strategy expertise across the “big three” wholesalers (Cardinal, McKesson,AmerisourceBergen/Cencora), specialty distributors (ASD, Besse, McKesson Plasma & Biologics, Cardinal Specialty), and specialty pharmacies (Accredo, CVS Specialty, Optum,and LDD networks)Working knowledge of distribution service agreements (DSAs), fee-for-service economics,inventory management agreements, chargeback processing, and 340B program dynamicsUnderstanding of pricing strategy intersections with trade, including WAC, ASP, and net priceconcepts, gross-to-net bridges, Medicaid best price considerations, and the impact of theInflation Reduction Act (IRA) on channel economicsDistribution and Supply ChainExperience with distribution network design, including open, limited, and exclusivedistribution model trade-offsKnowledge of cold chain and specialty product handling requirementsFamiliarity with DSCSA and serialization compliance obligationsUnderstanding of returns and recalls management processesWorking knowledge of REMS program logistics and operational requirementsFor cell and gene therapies, familiarity with apheresis-to-infusion chain of custodyrequirementsPreferred QualificationsAdvanced degree(s) (PhD, MD, MBA, or MS) with 2+ years of consulting experience or Undergrad degree with 3+ years of consulting experience o3+ years of biopharma industry experienceCompensation: Base salary range: $140,000 - $160,000 depending on experience.
