Role Overview:
- Generate, qualify, advance, and help close profitable new business for BPM.
- This is the client-facing revenue role.
- We need someone who wakes up thinking about how to open doors, create commercial relationships, develop partnerships, progress opportunities, and bring money into the agency.
- The candidate must genuinely enjoy selling.
- We are not looking for someone who merely tolerates business development as one part of a broader marketing or account-management role.
Core Ownership:
- Generate opportunities through direct outreach, referrals, networking, partnerships, events, and BPM’s existing relationships.
- Manage and rapidly qualify inbound opportunities.
- Build relationships with founders, CEOs, marketing leaders, investors, advisors, and referral partners.
- Develop partnerships with law firms, med spas, service-based industries (including home-services), accounting firms, real estate brokerages and developers, fractional executives, consultants, private-equity groups, investors, technology firms, and complementary agencies.
- Lead initial discovery and qualification conversations.
- Prepare opportunity briefs and coordinate founder involvement in high-value sales conversations.
- Manage proposals, follow-up, objection handling, negotiation, and opportunity progression.
- Maintain accurate next steps, values, probabilities, and expected close dates in the CRM.
- Re-engage former prospects, dormant opportunities, previous clients, and referral sources.
- Identify cross-sell, expansion, and referral opportunities within existing accounts.
- Provide market feedback that improves BPM’s positioning, offers, pricing, and sales messaging.
Required Profile:
- Approximately four to seven years of agency sales, new business, partnerships, account growth, or consultative business-development experience.
- Proven ability to generate opportunities—not simply manage leads handed to them.
- Experience selling PR, communications, digital marketing, advertising, SEO, creative, consulting, or other high-value professional services.
- Comfortable selling recurring retainers and customized strategic engagements.
- Strong discovery, qualification, follow-up, proposal, negotiation, and relationship-development skills.
- Motivated by commission and measurable revenue performance.
- Disciplined CRM user who maintains accurate opportunity information.
- Able to represent BPM credibly with founders, CEOs, and senior executives.
- Existing South Florida business relationships are strongly preferred.
What We Do Not Want:
- A junior SDR focused on mass outreach and meeting volume.
- An account manager without direct new-business responsibility.
- A networker who cannot advance and close opportunities.
- Someone dependent entirely on inbound leads.
- A marketer who says they can sell but has never carried a revenue target.
- A senior executive who only wants to manage a future sales team.
- A transactional salesperson unfamiliar with complex agency services.
Success Measures:
- Qualified pipeline generated.
- New recurring and project revenue.
- Self-generated opportunities.
- Partner- and referral-sourced pipeline.
- Proposal value.
- Proposal-to-close conversion.
- Average contract value.
- Sales-cycle length.
- Accuracy of opportunity stages and forecasts.
- Profitability and quality of closed business.
Role Structure:
- Mid-level, with a path to Director of Business Development.
- Competitive base salary with meaningful commission.
- Full-time, 40 hours per week.
- Monday to Friday.
- Eastern Time.
- US-based required.
- Miami–Fort Lauderdale or broader South Florida strongly preferred, but US across.
Clear Division of Ownership:
- The Growth Lead builds and optimizes the commercial machine: Targeting, Prospect data, CRM, Automation, Outbound infrastructure, Campaigns, Nurture, Reporting, Forecasting, Conversion systems.
- The Business Development Manager works the market and converts opportunities: Relationships, Personalized outreach, Referrals, Partnerships, Qualification, Discovery, Proposals, Follow-up, Negotiation, Closing.
