Capgemini is seeking a Functional Safety Engineer to support the development of autonomous robotic vehicle technologies. This role focuses on integrating functional safety throughout the product development lifecycle, from hazard analysis through verification and validation, ensuring compliance with recognized functional safety standards.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform hazard identification and risk analysis using: Systems Theoretic Process Analysis (STPA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA)Support development of functional safety concepts and safety requirementsCollaborate with hardware and software engineering teams to integrate safety into system designParticipate in safety verification and validation activities, including testing and simulationPrepare and maintain: Safety Plans, Safety Cases, Safety Reports, Compliance DocumentationSupport internal and external safety auditsPromote a strong culture of safety and regulatory compliance throughout product developmentRequired QualificationsBachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, Science, or a related technical discipline0–3 years of experience in Functional Safety Engineering (entry-level)Experience or knowledge of: STPA, FMEA, FTA, Functional Safety LifecyclesUnderstanding of Safety Integrity Levels (SIL) and risk assessment methodologiesStrong analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skillsPreferred QualificationsFunctional Safety certifications such as: Certified Functional Safety Expert (CFSE), Certified Functional Safety Professional (CFSP), Automotive Functional Safety Professional (AFSP)Experience in: Robotics, Autonomous Vehicles, Automotive, Mining Equipment, Agricultural MachineryFamiliarity with industry standards, including: IEC 61508, ISO 13849, ISO 25119This is an excellent opportunity for engineers looking to build expertise in functional safety, autonomous systems, and robotics while working with a global technology consulting organization.
