Responsibilities

Essential job functions: • Work independently by following instructions, rules, and other established standards. • Frequently utilize a variety of shipbuilding tools (grinders, torches, etc.). • Frequently read shipbuilding blueprints and other technical documents. • Frequently perform basic plate and stiffener assembly. • Frequently perform large panel and double bottom production, including pre-outfitting. • Frequently perform web line production, including plate cutting. • Occasionally move materials. • Occasionally store materials. • Frequently keep the work area clean and organized; it must be clean at the end of each shift. • Be responsible for all areas in yard production, including dry dock and fabrication. • Check all areas before starting hot work. • Protect any areas from hot work, including painted areas, machinery, etc. • Perform other duties as assigned. Education and experience: • A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. • Minimum of 4 years of experience in shipyards, with shipbuilding production or ship repair businesses, including manufacturing of heavy steel structures, production of pressure vessels, boilers, and other similar quality products, welding and fitting, hand tools, and industrial safety. • Must be able to read and comprehend blueprints.
