This role will support projects involving elevator system modernization, quality assurance inspections, code compliance reviews, acceptance testing, and construction oversight within active and occupied facilities, including VA Medical Centers and other federal sites.The ideal candidate will bring expertise in elevator systems, modernization projects, construction-phase support, and compliance with ASME A17.1 and related safety standards. This position may support multiple concurrent projects and requires strong communication, technical review, and stakeholder coordination capabilities.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform elevator and vertical transportation system inspections, assessments, and quality assurance reviewsSupport elevator modernization and construction projects from planning through commissioning and closeoutReview construction documents, submittals, RFIs, schedules, and shop drawings for compliance with project requirementsConduct field inspections to verify installation quality, safety compliance, and system performanceSupport acceptance testing activities, including integration with fire alarm and emergency power systemsEvaluate elevator systems for operational deficiencies and provide technical recommendations for modernization and lifecycle improvementsCoordinate with contractors, project managers, facility staff, and government stakeholders throughout project executionEnsure compliance with ASME A17.1/CSA B44 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators and related federal standardsPrepare technical reports, inspection findings, deficiency logs, and project documentationSupport QA/QC processes and maintain accurate project tracking and reportingBenefitsHealth insuranceDental insuranceVision insuranceLife Insurance401(k) Retirement Plan with matchingPaid Time OffPaid Federal HolidaysRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related engineering fieldMinimum of ten (10) years of experience in elevator systems design, maintenance oversight, modernization, and building code complianceCertified Elevator Inspector (CEI) credential or equivalent requiredStrong knowledge of ASME A17.1/CSA B44 Safety Code for Elevators and Escalators and related standardsExperience conducting elevator inspections, condition assessments, deficiency reporting, and modernization planningAbility to identify deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and verify code complianceExperience reviewing RFIs, submittals, shop drawings, and construction schedulesAbility to support projects within occupied healthcare, federal, or institutional facilitiesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to travel nationwide as requiredU.S. Citizenship requiredPreferred QualificationsQualified Elevator Inspector (QEI) certificationPMP, CMIT, CQM, OSHA 30, or related certificationsExperience supporting VA, GSA, DoD, or other federal agency projectsExperience supporting elevator modernization projects within healthcare or mission-critical facilitiesSteerBridge Strategies is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
