We are looking for an experienced backend engineer to join our engineering team. This is a fully remote position based anywhere in the UK, Germany, Turkey, Poland, Italy, Spain, and Portugal. You will be working alongside a highly technical and motivated team, reporting to the technical co-founder. Your responsibilities will include designing, building, and maintaining APIs, microservices, and data pipelines. You will also be optimizing APIs and database queries, writing complex SQL queries, and debugging and fixing bugs across our applications. Strong computer science fundamentals, a passion for writing clean and reusable code, and excellent communication skills are required. Previous experience with Python/Django, relational database management, and SQL query optimization is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Work with product owners, product managers, user interface designers, and other software engineers to write technical documents that identify software project requirements
- Design, build, and maintain APIs, microservices, and data pipelines
- Write well-formulated, testable, and readable code using appropriate software design patterns
- Optimize APIs and database queries to improve speed of execution
- Participate in code reviews
- Write complex SQL queries to get data from the database
- Debug and fix bugs across our applications
- Review, maintain, and refactor existing code to meet the requirements for improved or new features
- Design, normalize, and optimize relational databases
- Write technical documentation of code, algorithms, and APIs
- Help in drafting end-user manuals
