We are a tight-knit group that partners directly with leadership and cares as much about building a world-class team as we do about driving business impact.About the roleAs a Sr. Data Scientist on Business Analytics, you'll drive insights and action across the breadth of the marketplace, with a particular focus on conversion and monetization. You'll be a steward of key company metrics and dashboards, and you'll dive deep on the analytical questions most critical to Thumbtack's success. You'll partner with our leadership team to develop company strategy and goals, share performance updates with the Board, and work across Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, and Finance to turn analysis into decisions. This is a high-visibility role for someone who wants their work to change what the company does next.What you'll doDefine, monitor, and report on the key metrics that measure Thumbtack's successLead business performance analysis and reporting that surfaces emerging risks and opportunities for leadershipConduct deep-dive analyses that answer the questions most critical to Thumbtack's future strategySupport and improve the company revenue forecasting model and the broader forecasting and planning processBuild and maintain the dashboards and self-serve tools that teams across the company rely onPartner with Product, Engineering, Marketing, Operations, Finance, and the leadership team to translate insight into actionStrengthen our data culture through peer collaboration, review, training, and coachingIn order to be successful, you must bring6+ years of experience in a highly analytical role, preferably in tech; experience in a marketplace or two-sided platform business is a plusProficiency using SQL and Python or R to analyze large data setsExemplary analytical problem solving: a solid statistics foundation, strong business judgment, comfort navigating ambiguity, and the ability to synthesize insight from analysisExperience partnering with executives to understand business needs and drive decisionsStrong communication skills — an attentive listener and a compelling explainer across technical and non-technical audiencesExperience with using AI to automate workflows and enable self-serve analyticsExperience with revenue modeling and forecasting, ideally in a high-growth or public company environmentExpected salary rangesFor candidates living in San Francisco / Bay Area, San Jose, New York City, or Seattle metros, the expected salary range for the role is currently $197,200.00 - $255,200.00.For candidates living in Austin, TX or Washington DC metros or in California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, or Washington states, the expected salary range for the role is currently $177,700.00 - $229,900.00.For candidates living in all other US locations, the expected salary range for this role is currently $167,500.00 - $216,700.00.
