We currently have a long-term, renewable contract as a Systems Team Lead with our IT consulting client that primarily supports North American clients on various website and backend infrastructure services.LocationRemote (anywhere in Canada/USA/South America), but must be able to work on EST with the Canadian team.SummaryReporting directly to the CTO and managing the Systems department. This is a leadership role responsible for the overall technical management, operations, ongoing maintenance and support of large-scale production websites and networks.RoleChief responsibility over systems and networks.Maintain vendor relationships, as required, for technical infrastructure of office and website systems.Work directly with the Development Team Leads and Project Management in managing projects for the website and provide final sign-off/approval for release to production.Work directly with Senior Management and participate in planning and project discussions for various websites.Analyze and assess areas of risk to systems and recommend/implement changes as appropriate to the business.Continuously assess network and systems security, ensuring a high level of systems data security is maintained overall; report concerns directly to the CTO.Perform systems and network architectural design for the sites network, including capacity planning, hardware, infrastructure, software integration, OS and software performance tuning.Act as the single point of escalation of production issues, interfacing with required resources to see issues are resolved in a timely manner.Effectively manage risk, including monitoring, system redundancy and backups based on business requirements and acceptable risk.Supervise, coach, motivate and inspire team members to maintain healthy group dynamics while maintaining company directives and policies.Provide technical assistance and consultation as required to all areas of the company, including Project Management, Sales, Quality Assurance, Accounting, Customer Service, Development and Systems departments.Perform special tasks and projects company-wide, as assigned by the CTO.ResponsibilitiesDaily technical supervision of Systems Administration staff of about 7 resources.Provide mentoring and technical assistance to Systems Administration staff on a day-to-day basis, as required.Lead as a role model consistent with verbal directives.Provide feedback for performance reviews for Technical and Development staff and the various websites.Facilitate problem solving and collaboration; ensure discussions happen and make decisions that lead toward closure; intervene when necessary to aid the team in resolving issues.Be part of on-call rotation (12pm–8pm EST, 1-week duration every 4 weeks).Other duties as assigned.Job Requirements5+ years of experience with LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP).Minimum of 2+ years of management/leadership experience in a technology oriented organization.Must be well versed in supporting web servers.Strong background with storage SAN (NFS and iSCSI).Well versed with the ELK stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Beats, and Logstash).Adding/removing nodes, expand clusters, rebuild clusters; use InfluxDB.TCP/IP knowledge BGF and OSPF.Hands-on experience working with Linux in a Systems Administrative role.Hands-on experience working with Advanced Network Administrative role including routing, switching and security.Exceptional problem determination and creative problem-solving skills.Strong written and verbal skills.Strong understanding of software development lifecycle.Strong documentation and organizational practices.Extensive experience with many of these: MySQL maintenance and troubleshooting; LAN/WAN/VPN setup and troubleshooting; Linux-based and other firewall technology; Cloud technologies (OpenStack, oVirt, RHEV or similar); Baremetal hardware, SAN, Switching and Load-balancing; Backup technologies; Systems security; Automation systems (Ansible, Puppet or equivalent); Expertise with multiple Web technologies including but not limited to HTTP, SSL, DNS and SMTP protocols.Contract detailsRequired start date: ASAPRequired end date: 12 months + renewable every yearTotal hours approved per role: 40h/weekRate: $60,000 - $65,000/yearClient location: US/Canada
