Requirements and responsibilities

How would you like to work in an environment in which you can directly shape the quality of a product that's transforming an industry? At Molten Cloud, quality is everyone's responsibility — but yours most of all. We are looking for a QA Engineer who thrives at the intersection of deep technical curiosity and user-centered thinking. You will work across our full platform, applying both black-box and white-box testing methodologies to ensure that every royalty calculation, rights conflict check, and content workflow performs exactly as promised. We pair this high level of ownership with a fully remote setup, company-covered AI tools, and a healthy culture that actually insists you take your vacation time. Why You Will Love Working Here • Large, Interesting Problems to Solve: Our products are critical for the Hollywood industry and we're sending content around the world to over 100 destinations. The problems we solve are consequential and every day we manage petabytes of data. • Fast-Track Growth: With heavy mentorship and deep trust from day one, even our more junior team members quickly build the kind of influence and ownership typically reserved for seasoned staff. • Modern Tooling: We want you to move fast. The company completely covers your subscriptions for advanced AI coding tools like Cursor and Claude. • Real Flexibility: We offer work flexibility, and we are serious about you actually taking time off. 10 days a year — minimum. • Extremely Smart Coworkers: Learn from the best and then pay it forward and mentor people yourself. We love to build leaders. • A Culture of Camaraderie: We are a tight-knit group and there is a ton of camaraderie amongst our staff. We keep the connection strong with company offsites 1 to 2 times a year. • The Package: Excellent medical, dental, and vision benefits, a top-tier hardware setup provided by us, and a 401K plan (no company match just yet). What You Will Do: - Own end-to-end test coverage for our three core platform modules: Rights, Royalties, and Content. - Ensure accuracy in financial calculations, rights conflict detection, and content delivery workflows. - Design and execute black-box test plans covering user flows, edge cases, boundary conditions, and negative testing across the platform UI and APIs. - Apply white-box testing techniques by reviewing code paths, writing and maintaining unit and integration tests in close collaboration with our engineering team. - Write and maintain automated test suites in JavaScript using frameworks such as Playwright or Cypress. - Test REST API endpoints (FastAPI) for correctness, data integrity, and performance under real-world conditions. - Perform regression testing across releases and flag issues early through code review participation. - File detailed, reproducible bug reports and track them to resolution in collaboration with engineers and product leadership. - Contribute to CI/CD pipeline test integration to support rapid, confident deployments. What We Are Looking For: - Experience: 3+ years in a QA or SDET role on a SaaS product. - Black-Box Testing: Strong instincts for functional testing, exploratory testing, user flow validation, and edge case identification. - White-Box Fundamentals: Comfortable reading code, contributing to unit/integration test coverage, and collaborating with developers at the code level. - JavaScript Proficiency: Hands-on experience with test automation in JavaScript (Playwright, Cypress, or similar). - API Testing: Experience testing REST APIs via Postman, pytest, or equivalent tooling. - Data Awareness: Familiarity with MongoDB or complex data structures where accuracy is non-negotiable. - The Right Mindset: You thrive in a startup environment, are analytical, detail-obsessed, and take initiative to find problems before users do. - English Proficiency: Fluent enough in English to communicate clearly with the team in writing and video calls (B2+ level or equivalent professional experience). - Bonus: Experience in media, entertainment, rights management, or fintech, specifically where financial accuracy and data integrity are mission-critical.
