Requirements and responsibilities
1. Vision & AI Team Leadership
- Serve as the direct technical lead and mentor for the Vision & AI team (Python, ML).
- Shape the team’s roadmap, technical direction, and decision-making structure.
- Lead sprint planning, architecture reviews, and team performance alignment.
- Help scale the team as we grow (e.g., recruit additional ML engineers or vision specialists).
2. Product-Critical System Ownership
- Own the end-to-end implementation and evolution of:
* Dimensioning precision systems (3D camera pipelines, calibration, measurement algorithms).
* Shipping Label Recognition (SLR) (barcode detection, segmentation, OCR, field extraction, rotation handling).
* AI Models for field matching, correction, and suggestion (supervised + behavioral learning loops).
* Other AI Models.
3. Platform Stability & Performance.
- Drive improvements for:
* Field accuracy (inch-level for pallets, label-level for OCR/SLR).
* System stability and throughput (cloud + Jetson edge deployment).
* Degraded input handling (e.g., crumpled labels, bad lighting, black shrink wrap).
* Lead root cause analysis and long-term remediation for recurring failures in precision pipelines.
4. Architecture & Integration
- Lead design of modular, testable pipelines deployable across edge and cloud environments.
- Collaborate with backend and WMS integration teams to ensure seamless data flow between our applications.
- Guide implementation of AI/ML-assisted features that tie into the broader Wilkins platform.
