Role Summary: Location: London, UK (Primary Onsite Hub + Remote Multi-Site Support) Employment Type: Freelance / Contract (Outside IR35) Schedule: Full-Time (5 Days per Week / 8x5 Shift) + On-Call Rotation for P1 Emergencies Security Clearance: Active BPSS Clearance Required Work Authorization: Must hold a valid UK Work Visa / Right to Work in the UK About the Position: Are you an experienced Network & Security Specialist based in the UK? We are looking for a Senior Network & Security Operations Engineer to join a dedicated two-person team supporting network operations, security, and maintenance across 11 key regional locations. You will be based onsite at our primary London hub, providing direct hands-on support while remotely managing and securing a combined hardware footprint of ~350+ network devices across 10 additional regional sites. Core Responsibilities: Network & Security Operations: Maintain high availability and secure operations across firewalls, routers, switches, SD-WAN, and Wi-Fi architecture. Incident & Problem Management: Provide Tier 2/3 troubleshooting, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and SLA-based resolution. Lifecycle Maintenance: Oversee firmware updates, configuration backups, security hardening, and vendor/OEM break-fix coordination. Onsite & Remote Administration: Deliver local hands-on support at the primary London site while leveraging remote tools to manage the remaining 10 sites. On-Call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation dedicated strictly to high-priority (P1) operational emergencies outside regular 8x5 business hours. Infrastructure Overview: 36 IP Firewalls 7 IP Routers 115 IP Switches 45 SD-WAN Edge Devices 142 Wireless Access Points (WAPs) Required Skills & Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in enterprise network administration, multi-site operational management, and security governance. Security Clearance: Active BPSS clearance (or full immediate eligibility). Work Authorization: Valid UK Work Visa or full Right to Work in the UK. Technical Skills: Firewalls, Routing & Switching, SD-WAN, Enterprise Wireless (Wi-Fi), and Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Location: Must be residing in the UK with the ability to work onsite at the London hub. Desirable Skills & Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) / Professional (CCNP) Fortinet Network Security Expert (NSE) Palo Alto PCNSA / PCNSE Equivalent enterprise networking credentials
