Software Engineer – PerceptionFully Remote Work From Home RolePart-time with potential to transition into a full-time roleRoleOur client is looking for a Software Engineer to develop the computer vision and sensor fusion systems powering a cutting edge, real time aerospace software platform based in the U.S.In this role, you will work at the core of the perception pipeline, developing software that processes live sensor data, detects and tracks objects in real time, fuses multiple sensor inputs, and delivers reliable information to the operator interface. You'll work across computer vision, backend software, and hardware integration to build high-performance systems capable of operating under real-world conditions.Responsibilities:Develop real-time computer vision pipelines for object detection, classification, and multi-object trackingBuild sensor fusion systems combining EO/IR, multispectral, and other sensor inputs into a unified operational pictureDesign, train, evaluate, and optimize machine learning models for low-latency edge deploymentOptimize inference performance using techniques such as pruning, quantization, TensorRT, and custom kernelsBuild and maintain datasets, synthetic data generation pipelines, labeling workflows, and continuous model retraining processesEstablish evaluation metrics and testing frameworks under operational conditionsDeliver processed perception data (position, velocity, identity, uncertainty) to operator interfaces and control systemsDevelop backend services, APIs, and integration layers supporting the perception stackCollaborate with hardware engineers on cameras, sensors, optics, and embedded systemsTroubleshoot and resolve real-time performance issues in production environmentsRequirements:Strong experience building real-time computer vision and perception systemsProfessional experience delivering object detection or multi-object tracking systems into productionExperience with sensor fusion and integrating multiple sensor streamsStrong software engineering skills across backend systems and software integrationStrong Python development skills plus proficiency in C++ or RustExperience working with real-time data and hardware-connected systemsStrong English communication skills (written and verbal)Highly Preferred:Experience with PyTorch, TensorRT, ONNX, DeepStream, or GStreamerExperience with thermal, infrared (IR), multispectral, or EO imaging systemsExperience fusing multimodal sensor data such as EO/IR, radar, or acoustic sensorsExperience generating synthetic datasets and sim-to-real machine learning workflowsNVIDIA Jetson deployment experienceEmbedded Linux development and device integration (cameras, sensors, gimbals)Experience using WebSockets or gRPC for real time communicationPrevious experience in robotics, autonomy, aerospace, defense, or other safety critical computer vision applicationsPersonal robotics, embedded systems, or hardware projects are a strong plusPrevious experience as Computer Vision Engineer, Perception Engineer, Sensor Fusion Engineer or Robotics Software EngineerPrevious experience with building production computer vision systems for robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, defense, drones, industrial automation, or advanced imaging systems will be highly preferred.LocationRemoteAvailabilityPart-time (20 hours per week)Must be available during U.S. Pacific Time business hoursWhile this role is structured to begin at 20 hours per week, there is flexibility to offer an immediate or expedited full-time position to a candidate who demonstrates exceptional technical expertiseCompensation$15-$25 (Depending on skillsets)
