OverviewThe Senior Cloud Architect establishes and maintains NASCO’s AWS cloud environment to ensure security, scalability, operational resilience, and streamlined design across our SaaS product architectures. This role leads cloud architectural direction, engages in governance, ensures alignment with AWS best practices, and collaborates with engineering, product, security, and cloud operations teams. The Senior Cloud Architect translates complex requirements into actionable designs while promoting innovation, cost efficiency, and technical excellence across the enterprise.ResponsibilitiesGuides the design, development, and deployment of cloud‑native, elastic, resilient SaaS products aligned to AWS best practicesArchitects secure, scalable, performant, serverless SaaS solutions ensuring high availabilityDefines and maintains cloud architecture standards, reference architectures, and reusable design patterns using primarily AWS resourcesCreates and maintains architectural blueprints for infrastructure, applications, and data flowsEstablishes and enforces cloud governance frameworks, usage guardrails, and design principlesEnsures compliance with SOC 2, HIPAA, and other regulatory and security frameworksGuides adoption of Infrastructure‑as‑Code and automation to streamline provisioning, configuration, and operationsGuides adoption of optimized CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices to improve deployment automation and delivery efficiencyEnforces cloud security best practices including IAM, network segmentation, encryption, and secure SaaS product designDevelops and guides cloud observability strategies and optimize AWS environments for performance, reliability, and cost efficiencyMentors architects and engineers, and leads governance reviews to ensure scalable, secure, strategically aligned financially responsible designPartners with product management, engineering, cloud operations, architecture, and security teams to communicate decisions and align cloud implementation with enterprise goalsQualificationsRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Proven experience designing, deploying, and managing large‑scale SaaS solutions on AWSDeep expertise in AWS cloud architecture across compute, storage, networking, integration, and serverless designProficiency in cloud‑native design patterns, microservices, and event‑driven architecturesAdvanced knowledge of cloud security (IAM, encryption, secure design) and compliance frameworksStrong experience with IaC tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform and modern DevOps practicesSkilled in observability tools such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, and GrafanaStrong analytical and problem‑solving abilities with experience resolving complex issues in a cloud environmentExcellent communication and stakeholder‑engagement skillsDemonstrated leadership ability and experience mentoring technical teamsAbility to operate across multiple projects and operate effectively in a fast‑paced commercial SaaS environmentPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of cloud governance frameworks such as CIS Benchmarks or NISTExperience integrating AI/ML capabilities on AWS, including BedrockAbility to conduct and forecast cost–benefit and ROI analysis for proposed cloud solutionsKnowledge of AWS Well Architected Framework and ability to apply those principles to SaaS design reviewsExperience in forecasting design cloud compute costs, FinOps processes and design-based financial impactsExperience:10 years in cloud architecture, cloud engineering, or solution architecture5 years hands‑on experience with AWS and cloud‑native commercial SaaS products5 years of experience in designing complex distributed systems and enterprise cloud solutionsRequired Training, Certification and Education:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)AWS Solutions Architect – Professional Certification or similarPreferred Training, Certification and Education:AWS Certified DevOps EngineerAdditional AWS specialty or advanced certificationsMaster’s degree in a technology‑related fieldWorking Conditions:Home office/RemoteAbility to sit use equipment at workstation for up to 8 hours dailyAbility to work a flexible schedule when work requiresBenefits OverviewAt NASCO, we trust our workforce to be fully remote, working from their home.
