Requirements and responsibilities


Key Responsibilities - Design and implement IoT device architectures for large-scale smart city deployments. - Develop firmware and edge software using Rust for embedded devices and gateways. - Configure and manage IoT communication protocols such as MQTT, CoAP, LoRaWAN, Zigbee, and NB-IoT. - Ensure secure, reliable, and efficient data transmission from field devices to the central platform. - Install, configure, test, and maintain IoT devices during on-site deployments. - Troubleshoot hardware, connectivity, networking, and power-related issues. - Collaborate with Backend Engineers to define device communication protocols and data ingestion formats. - Conduct field testing, pilot deployments, and performance validation before large-scale rollouts. - Maintain technical documentation for hardware, firmware, and deployment procedures. Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Embedded Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field. - 2–5 years of hands-on experience in IoT hardware, embedded systems, or field deployments. - Strong proficiency in Rust for embedded programming using tools such as Embedded HAL or RTIC. - Experience with IoT communication protocols including MQTT, CoAP, LoRaWAN, Zigbee, and NB-IoT. - Hands-on experience with microcontrollers and embedded platforms such as ESP32, Raspberry Pi, or Arduino. - Good understanding of networking concepts and security practices for connected devices. - Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for hardware and embedded systems. Preferred Skills - Experience planning and deploying LPWAN networks across large geographic areas. - Familiarity with edge computing platforms such as AWS IoT Greengrass or Azure IoT Edge. - Knowledge of power management for battery-operated or solar-powered IoT devices. - Experience migrating embedded firmware from C/C++ to Rust. - Exposure to Smart City, Industrial IoT (IoT), or large-scale sensor network deployments.
