Job Description.
We are seeking a highly experienced Solution Architect – Smart Contract to lead the architecture, design, and delivery of next-generation digital banking solutions built on Thought Machine Vault.
This role combines strong hands-on Smart Contract (Python) expertise with end-to-end solution architecture responsibilities, ensuring scalability, regulatory compliance, and high-quality delivery across complex financial products.
You will work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, and Technical Leads to shape product logic, guide architectural decisions, and ensure the overall technical integrity of the platform.
Key Responsibilities.
Architecture & Solution Design.
* Define and own the end-to-end architecture for Smart Contract solutions on Vault.
* Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable financial product architectures.
* Ensure designs comply with banking standards, accounting rules (double-entry), and Vault constraints.
* Govern API interactions, data models, workflows, schedules, and integration points.
* Conduct architecture reviews, technical decision records, and risk assessments.
Technical Leadership.
* Provide architectural oversight across multiple Smart Contract development teams.
* Mentor Technical Leads and Developers on best practices, testing frameworks, and release governance.
* Define coding standards, testing strategies (unit / integration / E2E), and CI/CD pipelines.
* Support production issue investigation and root-cause analysis.
Stakeholder Engagement.
* Act as the technical authority in Smart Contract discussions with stakeholders.
* Lead solution workshops covering product logic, workflows, fees, interest, schedules, and accounting postings.
* Explain architectural trade-offs and guide stakeholders toward scalable, compliant designs.
* Collaborate closely with Product Owners, BAs, and Delivery Managers to align priorities.
Solution Delivery.
* Partner with DevOps, QA, Infrastructure, and Security teams to ensure smooth deployments.
* Oversee Smart Contract versioning, migration strategies, and upgrade paths.
* Ensure observability, monitoring, and debugging practices are in place.
* Contribute to delivery roadmaps, sprint planning, and risk mitigation.
Innovation & Practice Development.
* Continuously improve Smart Contract engineering and architecture best practices.
* Evaluate new Vault features, tooling, and industry trends.
* Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and upskilling initiatives.
Required Skills & Experience.
* 12+ years of backend engineering or solution design experience with strong Python fundamentals.
* At least 2 years of hands-on Smart Contract development.
* Experience in core banking, retail banking, or financial institutions.
* Deep knowledge of Vault architecture: posting instructions, hooks, ledgers, workflows, schedules, and versioning.
* Proven experience designing complex financial products (lending, savings, CASA, fees, interest products).
* Strong understanding of microservices, CQRS, event-driven systems, and API integrations.
* Solid experience with CI/CD, Git workflows, automated testing, and DevOps practices.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
* Proven experience leading multi-team delivery in Agile environments.
