Key Responsibilities: - Design and build backend services and GraphQL APIs for the platform. - Model complex IP-lifecycle domains including patents, trademarks, renewals, and multi-jurisdiction rules. - Implement multi-tenant data isolation and RBAC. - Own integrations with external systems including ERP, CRM, and PTO APIs. - Own performance, reliability, and security including SSO/MFA, encryption, and secure SDLC aligned with NCA controls and PDPL. - Ship fast with AI-assisted development such as Claude Code. - Build the AI guardrails including review gates, automated tests, and security checks that keep that speed safe. - Reason about the demands of a large-scale, multi-stakeholder programme including scale of operations, non-functional requirements, integration surface, and the delivery expectations of an enterprise or government client. - Turn those demands into sound backend decisions. - Set engineering standards, review code, and mentor other engineers. - Own backend technical direction alongside the Solution Architect. - Make architecture-level decisions. - Lead the engineering team day to day. - Be accountable for delivery quality and pace. Required Qualifications: - 8+ years building production backend systems with proven delivery for large-scale organisations including enterprise or government platforms, high data volumes, and significant integrations or partnerships. - Ability to understand and navigate the complexity of large-scale enterprise and government projects including scale of operations, technical and regulatory requirements, multiple stakeholders, and overall project expectations. - Deep experience with a modern backend framework with Ruby on Rails strongly preferred. - Expert with AI coding tools such as Claude Code to ship quickly. - Track record of building AI guardrails so speed never compromises correctness or security. - Expert relational database design with PostgreSQL and background processing such as Sidekiq. - Proven RESTful API design and secure authentication flows including SSO and MFA. - Track record delivering enterprise-grade, multi-tenant SaaS at scale. - Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring an engineering team and owning technical decisions on a significant production system. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in government or regulated environments. - Familiarity with Google Cloud including Cloud Run and me-central2. - Domain exposure to IP or legal technology. - Bilingual in Arabic and English.
