This role combines strategic architectural ownership, hands-on software development, and technical team leadership. As a Lead Engineer, you will define and evolve system architecture, ensure engineering best practices, and remain deeply involved in designing and building scalable, high-performance systems. You will play a critical role in shaping the technical direction of the platform while mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of ownership and quality. Working closely with Product, DevOps, and other engineering teams, you will translate business requirements into robust, cloud-native solutions built on Java and AWS. This role requires someone who can think strategically, act decisively, and still enjoy writing high-quality production code. Key ResponsibilitiesArchitecture & Technical Strategy Own and lead the design of scalable, resilient, and maintainable system architectures Define architectural standards, engineering best practices, and technology directionEnsure alignment between system architecture and long-term business objectivesDrive architectural reviews and make high-impact technical decisionsHands-On Development Actively contribute to the codebase in Java (Spring Boot, microservices)Design and implement high-performance, fault-tolerant distributed systemsLead by example through clean code, code reviews, and engineering disciplineTroubleshoot and resolve complex production and scalability challengesCloud & Platform Engineering Architect and build cloud-native solutions on AWS (ECS, EC2, SQS, DynamoDB, RDS)Design scalable database solutions (MySQL/PostgreSQL) with a focus on performance and optimizationGuide containerization and orchestration strategies (Docker, Kubernetes)Technical & Team Leadership Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers across the teamSupport career growth and elevate engineering standardsLead technical planning, estimation, and executionFoster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvementPartner with Product and stakeholders to shape technical solutionsOperational Excellence Ensure reliability, observability, and performance through monitoring and alerting solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)Promote DevOps practices and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)Drive engineering quality, scalability, and operational readinessRequire Qualifications7+ years of hands-on experience in Java development (Spring, Hibernate, J2EE)Proven experience leading system architecture in distributed/microservices environmentsStrong expertise in AWS-based cloud-native application developmentDeep understanding of relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and system scaling strategiesStrong experience with microservices architecture, Docker, and KubernetesDemonstrated experience leading engineers or technical initiativesExcellent problem-solving skills with the ability to operate at both strategic and implementation levelsStrong communication skills and ability to influence cross-functional stakeholdersDegree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experiencePreferred QualificationsExperience operating large-scale, production-grade distributed systemsStrong background in observability and performance optimizationExperience driving architectural transformations or modernization initiativesAdditional informationKaseya provides equal employment opportunity to all employees and applicants without regard to race, religion, age, ancestry, gender, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, citizenship status, physical or mental disability, veteran status, marital status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
