Requirements and responsibilities

We're SweedPos, a product-driven startup building an all-in-one cannabis retail platform. We’re on the lookout for a AI Engineer to join us remotely and help us scale and optimize our platform.About UsAt Sweed, we’re reimagining how cannabis retailers operate. Our enterprise-grade platform combines POS, eCommerce, Marketing, Analytics and Inventory Management into a single, seamless solution—eliminating the need for multiple third-party tools. We believe in simplicity, efficiency, and innovation. That’s why we build for scalability and performance, making life easier for cannabis retailers while driving real business growth. Why We’re Doing ThisAt Sweed, we believe in the medicinal potential of cannabis. It has been shown to help with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and many other conditions. Despite the lingering stigma, we see cannabis as a powerful tool for improving lives. The industry is evolving rapidly, and we’re here to drive that transformation—making cannabis retail more efficient, accessible, and customer-friendly.Where We Are NowWe’ve been on the market for 7 years, continuously growing and refining our product. Our focus is on earning customer trust, which means constantly improving our delivery processes and rolling out new features. At the same time, we navigate the complex legal landscape of the cannabis industry, ensuring our platform remains compliant and future-proof.Team StructureOur total team size is over 200 people:The development team is distributed globally and organized into cross-functional product teams. These teams typically consist of 8–12 members, including front-end and back-end developers, QA specialists, and analysts. Each team is led by a Team Lead and a Product Owner, ensuring effective collaboration and clear direction.Meanwhile, our CEO, account managers, and customer success team are based in the USA, working closely with us to align product development with business and user needs. Why this role mattersAn AI Product Engineer is a full-cycle engineer who independently ships features end-to-end: scoping, backend, frontend, deploy. What sets this role apart from a traditional fullstack developer is the ability to use AI tools as a core part of the workflow — Cursor, Claude, Codex and similar assistants help move fast and maintain quality across the entire stack. We're not looking for a deep specialist in any single area; we're looking for someone who uses AI to close gaps and deliver consistently. What You’ll Be Working OnOwn features end-to-end — from task breakdown to production deployDesign and build server-side logic (REST and RPC APIs, services, integrations)Implement user interfaces — clean and fast, without over-engineeringSet up CI/CD, containerisation, and feature-level infrastructure (DevOps basics)Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and task decompositionWhat We’re Looking ForBackend3–6 years of commercial experience in backend or fullstack developmentProficiency in Node.js (Express / NestJS) or .NETExperience designing REST APIs and understanding of RPC approachesSolid work with relational databases (PostgreSQL / MySQL / MSSQL)Understanding of core patterns: queues, caching, asyncFrontendConfident React — enough to build a working UI independentlyTypeScript at a level sufficient to work with typed APIsPixel-perfect is not required; speed and solid UX matterDevOps / infrastructureDocker and Docker Compose — confident everyday useBasic CI/CD with GitLab CIExperience deploying to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP or similar)AI engineeringActive use of AI agents in development: Cursor, Claude, Codex or equivalentsFamiliarity with agentic workflows: plan mode, REPL-style iteration, and similar approachesPrompt engineering: ability to frame tasks clearly and load the context with relevant artefacts (code, schemas, requirements)Output verification and review — understands where models fail and whyDegradation control: using tests and other mechanisms to maintain quality under agentic changesNice to haveStrong test coverage: unit, integration, e2e — writes tests as a real quality gate, not a formalityCross-team development experience: coordinating changes with adjacent teams, working with shared services or platformExperience in startups or small teams with broad ownershipWhat Else Matters?Proactivity – We love team members who take initiative and provide feedbackCritical thinking – We value problem-solvers who think beyond just writing codeAdaptability – Our industry is evolving fast, and we need people who thrive in changeWhat We OfferSalary in USD (B2B contract with the US company)100% remote – We’re a remote-first company, no offices needed!Flexible working hours – Core team time: 09:00-15:00 GMT (flexible per team)20 paid vacation days per year12 holidays per year3 sick leave daysMedical insurance after probationEquipment reimbursement (laptops, monitors, etc.)Hiring ProcessIntro Call with Sweed People Team (30 min) — experience, motivation & fitTechnical Interview (90 min) — AI Coding SessionSystem Design (90 min)Final interview (60 min)
