Location: Remote (with occasional travel to client sites and Athena hub cities)Type: Full-Time, SalariedAs a Senior Actuarial Analyst, you will play a key role on client teams, taking ownership of your work and collaborating closely with Analysts, Senior Analysts, and lead actuaries. You’ll support important client projects by analyzing data, building models, and contributing insights that help shape client strategies. The Senior Actuarial Analyst role also provides opportunities to engage with clients, support new business efforts, and participate in Athena’s broader community. This position offers a strong foundation for an actuarial consulting career, with opportunities to advance through progressively challenging roles.What You’ll Do Key Responsibilities:Researching and gathering information to support project workReviewing and analyzing plan data, financial statements, and other actuarial work productsProviding input to the development of effective solutionsCreating, updating, and maintaining actuarial programs and Excel modelsAssisting with the preparation of client reports and presentationsParticipating in Athena’s strategy meetings and providing feedback on community initiativesDemonstrating a strong commitment to personal and professional integrity while supporting Athena’s mission and valuesWhat We’re Looking For Must-Haves:3–5 years of experience in health actuarial rolesProgress toward ASA or FSA designation, with at least one exam passedProven problem-solving skills and a strong drive to learnCommitment to Athena’s mission and valuesAbility to work independently and thrive in a remote-first environmentProficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and WordNice-to-Haves:Health actuarial experience, including Government-funded (Medicaid, TRICARE, VA, Medicare), Commercial/Employer, and/or other Public/State programsPrograms of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) review & compliance supportProficiency in SQL, SAS, or similar programming languages/tools, including experience writing queries to analyze data and support business insightsWhy Athena?
