A bit about this role:The Senior Accountant is a key operator on a lean accounting team, responsible for owning critical accounting processes end-to-end and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. This role requires strong technical expertise, disciplined execution, and the ability to operate independently with minimal oversight.This position reports to the Senior Manager and partners closely with finance leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to support business operations and maintain the integrity of financial data.The ideal candidate is highly detail-oriented, accountable, and comfortable taking ownership in a fast-paced environment where priorities evolve and ambiguity exists.The meaningful work you will tackle:Core Accounting OperationsOwn day-to-day accounting activities, including accurate transaction recording and system integrity in CampfireManage accounts payable processes in Bill.com, ensuring proper approvals, coding accuracy, and timely processingProcess bi-weekly multi-state payroll in Rippling, ensuring compliance with all applicable regulationsMaintain accuracy and completeness of general ledger activityMonth-End CloseExecute and help drive the monthly close process to ensure timely and accurate reportingPrepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies proactivelyEnsure completeness, accuracy, and consistency of financial data across systemsIdentify close bottlenecks and recommend improvementsAnalysis & Reporting SupportInvestigate and explain variances in financial results with clear, supportable analysisPrepare supporting schedules and documentation for internal reportingMaintain well-organized, audit-ready workpapersAudit & ComplianceSupport internal and external audits, including preparation of documentation and responding to requestsEnsure adherence to accounting policies and regulatory requirementsAssist with compliance-related processes such as workers’ compensation auditsProcess Improvement & DocumentationDocument and maintain accounting policies and proceduresIdentify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and internal controlsDrive implementation of process improvements within the accounting functionCross-Functional CollaborationPartner with stakeholders across the business to ensure smooth financial operationsCommunicate clearly and effectively with finance leadership and business partnersRespond to inquiries with timely, accurate, and well-supported informationWhat we’re looking for in your background & what makes you a success:RequiredBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance4+ years of relevant accounting experienceStrong understanding of GAAPHands-on experience with payroll and accounts payableProficiency in accounting systems and advanced Excel skillsDemonstrated ability to manage responsibilities independently and meet deadlinesPreferredExperience in a high-growth or venture-backed companyExperience supporting audits and compliance processesCPA or progress toward certificationSuccess ProfileExceptional attention to detail and accuracyStrong ownership mindset and accountability for outcomesAbility to operate independently and prioritize effectivelyStructured, organized, and deadline-drivenSound judgment and problem-solving abilityClear, professional communication skillsWhy Brightside:  For our clients - our mission is clear.
