Our Mission:At Sunrise Robotics, we are dedicated to augmenting humanity through intelligent robotics. Our mission is to elevate the world of manufacturing by introducing intelligent, flexible robots that enhance human capabilities and existing machinery, ushering in the next era of production at higher quality, with less waste, and lower cost. Our Vision:We see a future where every element of manufacturing, from design to assembly, is optimised with intelligent automation. Our vision is to integrate flexible robotic solutions, based on generic hardware and advanced software/AI capabilities, into manufacturing, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises, to make automation economically viable and accessible, for all sizes of manufacturers. We are not just building robots; we are creating the strategically crucial components for autonomous, intelligent agents of the future. The role:At Sunrise Robotics, this Forward Deployed Engineer role exists to make our robotic systems work reliably in real factories, and to turn each deployment into something we can repeat and scale. You’ll own end-to-end delivery in live production environments, working directly with customers to get systems running and meeting real production requirements. At the same time, you’ll identify what slows us down or breaks across deployments, and help turn those insights into improvements in our product, tools, and processes. You are not just someone who installs machines and leaves. You are the bridge between the field and our development team - the person who has seen the full cycle from design through to live production, and who brings that knowledge back to make us better. What you’ll do:Deploy Sunrise robotic systems in live manufacturing environments and deliver successful customer go-livesAct as the primary technical point of contact for customers during integration and ramp-upOwn system performance during deployment, ensuring solutions meet defined operational and reliability standardsTroubleshoot deployed systems and resolve technical issues to maintain uptime and reliabilityInvestigate operational incidents and implement fixes that prevent recurrenceSupport pilot launches and early-stage deployments, ensuring systems reach production readinessTranslate real-world production constraints into structured input for product and engineering teamsIdentify and eliminate sources of non-recurring engineering in deploymentsImprove deployment workflows, tools, and system architecture to enable repeatable deliveryCollaborate with AI, robotics, product, and commercial teams to align customer needs with product evolutionWhat you’ll need:Strong understanding and hands-on experience programming and deploying industrial robots in real production environmentsPLC programming experience, ideally with Siemens TIA PortalExperience with simulation environmentsAbility to read and make changes to electrical wiring diagramsAbility to troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues on-siteFamiliarity with industrial communication protocols such as Profinet, Profisafe, and ModbusExperience with industrial safety systems - radars, LiDARs, safety doorsExperience with ROS 2Ability to analyse complex systems and generalise solutions across different deploymentsExperience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams across AI, software, mechanical, and electrical engineeringStrong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to customers and internal teamsAbility to work autonomously and take full ownership in the fieldStrong organisational skills with the ability to manage travel, customers, and delivery simultaneouslyWhat Makes You Stand Out:Working knowledge of simulation environments (e.g., NVIDIA Isaac Sim / Omniverse), synthetic data generation, and structured QA processesFamiliarity with applied machine learning in industrial settingsExperience with ABB SafeMoveExperience with collaborative robotic applicationsExperience using safety analysis tools and functional safety standardsBackground in mechatronics, electromechanical, or mechanical engineeringExperience with Behaviour Tree-based system controlWhy Us:We’re building a new category of intelligent, flexible robotic automation with real deployments, real customers, and momentum across Europe.High exposure: Work directly with founders and leadership on decisions that shape how we deploy and scale automationCareer acceleration: Gain deep experience across deployment, product, and system design while helping define how modern robotics companies scale deliveryReal impact: Your work will run in live production environments, directly influencing customer outcomes, product direction, and how quickly we can scale across factories
