Requirements and responsibilities


### Overview We are looking for a DevOps/Systems Engineer to own our infrastructure, CI/CD, and operational reliability. You will set up and maintain cloud infrastructure, ensure smooth deployments, and keep our systems running efficiently as we scale. - Note: This role could potentially be part-time or combined with the Senior Full Stack role depending on candidate capabilities. ### Responsibilities Infrastructure (40%) - Design and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS or GCP). - Manage containerized deployments (Docker, potentially Kubernetes). - Set up and maintain databases (PostgreSQL, Redis). - Configure networking, security groups, and access controls. - Manage secrets and environment configuration. - Implement infrastructure as code (Terraform or Pulumi). CI/CD & Automation (30%) - Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar). - Automate testing, building, and deployment processes. - Implement staging and production environment management. - Set up automated database migrations. - Create deployment rollback procedures. Reliability & Monitoring (20%) - Set up logging and monitoring (CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar). - Configure alerting for system issues. - Implement backup and disaster recovery procedures. - Monitor and optimize costs. - Ensure security best practices. Support (10%) - Troubleshoot production issues. - Support developers with environment setup. - Document infrastructure and processes. - Participate in on-call rotation (as team grows). ### Requirements Must Have: - 3+ years of DevOps/Systems/SRE experience. - Strong experience with AWS or GCP. - Experience with Docker and container orchestration. - Experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar). - Experience with PostgreSQL administration. - Experience with Linux server administration. - Understanding of networking and security fundamentals. - Experience with infrastructure as code. - Comfortable working in English (written and verbal). - Overlap with US Eastern time zone (at least 4 hours). Strong Preference: - Experience with Terraform. - Experience with Kubernetes (EKS/GKE). - Experience with Python (for scripting and understanding app code). - Experience with Redis. - Experience with Celery or task queues. - Experience with monitoring tools (Datadog, New Relic, Prometheus). - Experience with cost optimization. Nice to Have: - Experience with Stripe webhook infrastructure. - Experience with CDN configuration (CloudFront, Cloudflare). - Experience with LLM API infrastructure (rate limiting, caching). - Security certifications or strong security background. - Experience with SOC 2 or similar compliance.
