Requirements and responsibilities

For over 30 years, Angi has powered the future of the home services industry, creating an environment where homeowners and pros benefit from more jobs done well. For homeowners, our platform is a reliable way to find skilled pros. For pros, we're a reliable business partner who helps them find the winnable work they want, when they want. For employees, we're an amazing place to call home. We can't wait to welcome you.Angi at a glance:Founded in 1995 as Angie’s List and rebranded in 2021Global company with 9 brands in 8 countries and employees worldwideHomeowners have turned to us for 300 million home projects and countingAbout the teamUX Research at Angi is embedded in a multidisciplinary team of designers, researchers, and content creators. We build experiences that span both sides of a two-sided marketplace — homeowners navigating big decisions and service professionals growing their businesses — across digital and in-person touchpoints. We're in a meaningful growth period. This isn't a role focused solely on optimizing existing flows. We're building new product surfaces, exploring new experience models, and using research to identify opportunities we haven't yet named. If you're energized by working in ambiguous, early-stage problem spaces and helping a team build from a strong point of view, this is a good team for you.About the roleThis is a rare opportunity to do two kinds of research that most roles force you to choose between. On one side, you'll co-define and execute blue sky and strategic discovery work alongside research leadership — exploring future-state opportunities, emerging user needs, and experience spaces that don't have a roadmap item yet. This is generative, open-ended work where the question is often as important as the answer, and where your instincts about what's worth exploring will matter as much as your ability to run a clean study. On the other side, you'll own a portfolio of customer experience metrics programs — tracking how users feel and behave across key moments in the Angi journey, measuring the impact of product changes over time, and building the longitudinal understanding that keeps the team grounded in what's actually happening for customers.Together, these two workstreams give you something unusual: real influence at the front edge of product strategy, and the satisfaction of watching your research drive decisions you can measure. You'll report directly to the VP of Research — which means a short path to the conversations that matter and a genuine opportunity to shape how the research function evolves. What you'll doIndependently scope and execute research studies based on product decisions and risks — choosing methods that balance rigor and speed, and adjusting when conditions changeWork across multiple data sources: qualitative interviews, usability sessions, concept tests, lightweight surveys, and secondary researchParticipate in and support generative and discovery research — concept testing, opportunity framing, early-stage exploration — where the question isn't fully defined yetSynthesize across sessions to identify root causes and motivations, not just surface-level patterns; produce insights grounded in repeated behavior, context, and meaningConnect insights to near-term roadmap decisions and help partners understand user tradeoffs alongside business constraintsCommunicate findings clearly to product, design, and engineering partners — distilling complexity into what matters most and what to do about itPresent to cross-functional partners and occasional director-level stakeholders with confidence and clarityUse AI tools to accelerate synthesis and research operations (tagging, clustering, transcription, repository management) while validating outputs for accuracyContribute to team practice: share reusable frameworks, improve templates, mentor junior researchers on craft and processBuild trusted relationships with product and design partners within your zoneWho you are4–6 years of UX research experience, with a combination of consultancy/innovation firm experience and in-house product workYour consultancy or design firm experience gave you: comfort operating in ambiguous, 0-to-1 spaces; a habit of working with stakeholders who aren't sure what they need; and confidence forming and defending a point of view with limited dataYour in-house product experience gave you: familiarity with how product roadmaps, sprint cycles, and metrics work; an understanding of how research earns trust and gets used in a fast-moving team; and a track record of insights that influenced real decisionsSkilled in qualitative methods (interviews, diary studies, concept testing, usability testing) with growing comfort in quantitative approaches (surveys, behavioral data analysis, A/B interpretation)You scope studies independently and choose methods that fit the question — not the other way aroundYou synthesize across sessions to find root causes, not just recurring quotes; your insights say something about why, not just whatStrong, clear communicator — you can write a sharp one-pager, structure a crisp readout, and present to a skeptical PM or design lead without losing themCollaborative and reliable — partners know what to expect from you, you manage expectations proactively, and you raise blockers earlyCurious about home ownership, home improvement, and what it means to help people find reliable help for something as personal as where they liveComfortable working in AI-assisted workflows and interested in doing research on AI-powered product experiences as we build themCompensation & BenefitsThe base salary band for this position ranges from $130,000 - $180,000, commensurate with experience and performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location. This position will be eligible for a competitive year end performance bonus & equity packageFull medical, dental, vision package to fit your needsFlexible vacation policy; work hard and take time when you need itPet discount plans & retirement plan with company match (401K)The rare opportunity to work with sharp, motivated teammates solving some of the most unique challenges and changing the worldWe value diversityWe know that the best ideas come from teams where diverse points of view uncover new solutions to hard problems.
