Mercor is hiring PhD-level scientists who are proficient bilingual speakers (English & Dutch) based in Belgium to help make advanced AI models safer. Apply your scientific expertise to evaluate and strengthen how these models handle specialized technical topics in Belgian Dutch. No prior AI/ML experience required – we'll train you!What you'll do:Write expert-level prompts in Belgian Dutch across specialized scientific topicsEvaluate and annotate model responses for scientific accuracy, helpfulness, and appropriate handling of sensitive contentApply structured guidelines to classify prompts and conversationsWhat we're looking for:PhD in chemistry, biology, or closely related field – ongoing or completedNative or near-native fluency in Dutch as spoken in Belgium + business-level written EnglishCurrently based in BelgiumDeep familiarity with modern laboratory and computational techniquesSound judgment around scientific safety and responsible handling of dual-use informationNice to have:Radiochemistry, nuclear chemistry, energetic materials, or radiation physics backgroundDepth in organic/inorganic synthesis, molecular biology, microbiology, virology, or geneticsResearch experience in chemical/biosafety, biosecurity, or hazardous materialsExperience reviewing, grading, or red-teaming technical contentLogistics:Immediate start – fully remote, flexible scheduleWeekly payments via Stripe or WiseIndependent contractor roleUnable to support H1-B or STEM OPT candidates
