As a senior member of our Drug Discovery Team, you will guide preclinical drug development programs, lead medicinal chemistry efforts, and play a key role in the design of hit finding and hit profiling campaigns. If you have a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or a related field with 8+ years of industry experience, and a strong track record in medicinal chemistry and drug discovery, we want to hear from you! Responsibilities: - Lead medicinal chemistry efforts towards novel oncology targets in to clear decision points through preclinical development - Supervise and direct the efforts of all chemistry, acting as a resource to team members—providing guidance and instruction. - Prioritize medicinal chemistry activities, managing external chemistry resources to achieve company goals while ensuring adherence to timelines and budgets. - Work closely with the company’s biology team, external consultants, and senior management to develop and recommend chemistry resourcing plans and budgets to achieve our strategic goals. - Plan, execute, critically interpret, and optimize structure activity relationship (SAR) campaigns incorporating physicochemical and ADME properties and pharmacological function readouts. - Manage contract research organization (CRO) partner interactions and alignment of resources consistent with company priorities and objectives to build a strong portfolio of drug candidates. - Lead the design, planning and execution of multi-step syntheses of high-quality small molecules for biological screening. - Possess a clear and effective communication style to disseminate project data and medicinal chemistry approach to both internal colleagues and external collaborators. - Build and maintain productive relationships with partners in structural biology, computational chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, DMPK, toxicology, and early development. - Lead the preparation of patent documents, peer-reviewed scientific publications and regulatory documents as appropriate. - Support the implementation and maintenance of ELN and cheminformatics toolkits of a developing discovery organisation - Build a dynamic scientific and professional culture focused on productivity and innovation that reflects Turbine’s values.
