A critical part of this role is understanding that Enterprise and SMB customers don't learn the same way — you'll design programs that meet each segment where they are, with the right depth, format, and pacing for their needs.You'll sit within the Digital CS team — alongside Community, in-app guidance, automated playbooks, and 1:M events — and you'll be the expert who defines what great customer education looks like at Drata across every customer segment.This is a senior IC role. You won't manage people on day one, but you'll lead the discipline. You'll set the strategy, own the roadmap, and be the voice of customer education across the company. As the function matures, there's a clear path to building a team under you.You’ll report directly to the Sr. Director of Digital CS, who leads all of Drata's Digital CS programs.What you'll do:Build and mature the Drata Academy programOwn the Drata Academy roadmap — course library strategy, learning path design, and the overall curriculum architecture across Drata's product suite (GRC, Trust Center, AIQA, TPRM)Design distinct learning experiences for Enterprise and SMB customers — Enterprise teams need depth, role-based paths, and content that scales across large orgs; SMB customers need fast time-to-value, opinionated guidance, and lean formats that fit a lean teamTake Academy from a newly launched platform to a mature, comprehensive education program with measurable customer outcomesDefine what 'good' looks like for customer education at Drata — frameworks, standards, and content quality barBuild a scalable content production process using AI-assisted authoring tools (Claude Design, Arcade, and similar) to create high-quality courses without engineering dependencyPartner with Product to stay ahead of feature releases and ensure education content ships in sync with the productLaunch and own the Drata Admin Certification programDesign and build Drata's first customer certification program — the Drata Admin Certification — from curriculum design through to assessment, badging, and renewalDefine the certification framework: competency model, exam structure, passing criteria, and credential lifecyclePartner with the Customer Success, Sales, and Marketing teams to position the Drata Admin Certification as a meaningful credential in the GRC and security compliance marketBuild the ecosystem around certification: study guides, prep courses, practice assessments, and community-based peer learningDrive education impact with AI and dataUse AI tools meaningfully throughout the content lifecycle — not just for drafting, but for personalization, adaptive learning paths, and content gap identification at scaleDefine and own education KPIs: course completion rates, certification pass rates, time-to-proficiency, and correlation between education engagement and GRR/NRRPartner with the Digital CS team's data infrastructure (Snowflake, Hook.co) to connect Academy engagement to customer health scores and retention outcomesReport education program performance in the quarterly Digital CS QBR and continuously improve based on what the data showsIntegrate education across the Digital CS ecosystemConnect Academy to the broader Digital CS motion — surface course recommendations in automated playbooks, in-app tooltips, and community contentPartner with the Community Manager to make community a learning accelerator: expert-led sessions, peer knowledge sharing, and certification prep cohortsCollaborate with the 1:M events program to create learning continuity between live sessions and self-paced Academy contentEnsure education content reinforces the in-app guidance experience — tooltips, Arcade videos, and Academy courses telling a consistent storyWhat you'll bring:5–8 years of experience in customer education, learning & development, or instructional design at a B2B SaaS companyProven track record building or maturing a customer education program — ideally across companies at different stages (early-stage build to scaled program)Experience designing L&D programs for both Enterprise and SMB customers — you understand that a Fortune 500 security team and a 20-person startup have fundamentally different learning needs, timelines, and success metrics, and you've built programs that reflect thatCertification program experience — you've designed, launched, or owned a professional certification or credentialing program end-to-endHands-on LMS expertise — deep experience with Skilljar, Gainsight Academy, Docebo, Thought Industries, or similar platformsAI fluency with real business impact — you've used AI tools to meaningfully accelerate content creation, improve learning outcomes, or scale a program; you can speak to the resultsStrong instructional design instincts — you understand adult learning principles, can design for different modalities (video, interactive, assessment), and know what makes content actually stickData-driven — you track completion rates, certification outcomes, and business impact, and you use that data to make decisionsCross-functional collaborator — comfortable working with Product, CS, Marketing, and Support to align education to the customer journeyBonus: experience in the GRC, security compliance, or trust space; Actual base pay will vary based on multiple factors — market location, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and overall alignment to the role. Candidates shouldn't expect automatic placement at any particular point within the range. Offer amounts are determined by the qualifications each candidate brings to the position. Total compensation may also include equity designed to provide meaningful ownership in the company, as well as health and wellbeing benefits.
