Responsibilities


We are seeking an experienced SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) with expertise in managing high-availability (HA) environments. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of Always On Availability Groups, database performance tuning, and disaster recovery strategies. This role requires strong problem-solving skills, proactive monitoring, and collaboration with IT teams to ensure optimal database performance and availability. Required Qualifications & Skills - 3+ years of experience as a SQL Server DBA. - Expertise in SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and other HA/DR solutions. - Strong understanding of T-SQL scripting, indexing, and query tuning. - Experience with SQL Server 2016, 2019, and/or 2022. - Knowledge of Windows Server Failover Clustering (WSFC). - Familiarity with cloud-based SQL solutions (Azure SQL, AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL). - Experience with PowerShell, automation scripts, and monitoring tools. - Understanding of database security principles and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities: Database Administration & Maintenance: - Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances (on-premises and/or cloud). - Manage security, roles, permissions, and backups. - Monitor database health and performance proactively. High Availability & Disaster Recovery (HA/DR): - Design, implement, and maintain Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Replication. - Ensure 99.99% uptime and meet high-performance standards. - Conduct automatic failover testing, backups, and disaster recovery planning. Performance Tuning & Optimization: - Identify and resolve SQL query performance issues using execution plans, indexing strategies, and query optimization. - Implement best practices for indexing, partitioning, and resource allocation. - Analyze and optimize T-SQL queries and stored procedures. Monitoring & Troubleshooting: - Utilize SQL Server Profiler, Extended Events, DMVs, and third-party monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, Redgate, SQLSentry). - Diagnose and resolve database connectivity and replication issues. Automate monitoring and maintenance tasks for efficiency. Security & Compliance: - Implement database encryption, auditing, and access controls to ensure data security. - Ensure timely patching and upgrades to mitigate vulnerabilities. Collaboration & Documentation: - Work with developers, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to optimize database solutions. - Provide technical support and guidance for application teams. - Document database architectures, processes, and recovery plans. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have): - Experience with NoSQL or hybrid cloud databases (e.g., Databricks). - Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools related to databases. - Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSA: SQL Server). - Experience with Rubrik, mainly just familiar with how to utilize the backup and restore interface.
