Using best-in-class software and processes, we deliver peace of mind. The Role We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Operations Manager to lead and oversee end-to-end payroll operations for our firm and our clients. This role is critical in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing while continuously improving systems, controls, and reporting. The ideal candidate brings strong technical payroll expertise, deep knowledge of U.S. tax and labor regulations across a multi-state setting, and a process-driven mindset suited for a fast-paced, high-touch environment supporting early-stage and high-growth startup clients. Payroll sits at the intersection of compliance, employee experience, and financial accuracy, and this role helps ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting the integrity of financial reporting and payroll compliance across a growing client portfolio. This is a full-time, remote position reporting to the Director of HR. Responsibilities Own full-cycle U.S. and international payroll processing across multiple clients, including international payrolls managed through EOR providers  Serve as the internal payroll subject matter expert, partnering closely with HR and Accounting/Finance client leads to support payroll operations across the client portfolio  Manage payroll platforms including Gusto, Justworks, Rippling, ADP, TriNet, Deel, or similar systems  Ensure accurate processing of wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions  Manage multi-state payroll compliance, tax filings, and year-end reporting (W-2s, 1099s)  Reconcile payroll reports, benefit invoices, and payroll-related GL accounts  Partner with accounting teams to support month-end close activities, including payroll accruals and related reporting  Support payroll-related equity compensation processing, including tax withholding and reporting for employee stock programs  Support payroll setup and termination processing for new hires and departing employees, including prorated pay, final pay, and payroll deductions  Coordinate payroll-related benefits deductions and ensure accurate employee and employer contribution processing for medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) plans  Maintain payroll procedures, internal controls, and process improvements to support scalable payroll operations  Qualifications & Experience Required 5+ years of U.S. payroll experience, including multi-state payroll  Strong knowledge of payroll taxes, wage laws, and compliance requirements  Experience with payroll systems (Gusto, Justworks, Rippling, Deel, Sequoia One or similar)  Advanced Excel skills (lookups, pivots, data validation, reconciliation workflows)  Proven experience with payroll reconciliations and audit support  Experience supporting payroll operations across multiple clients, entities, or business units  High attention to detail and accuracy  Experience managing international payrolls through EOR platforms such as Deel or Remote  Excellent organizational and client communication skills  Preferred Experience supporting high-growth startups or venture-backed companies  Experience working in an outsourced accounting, HR, or professional services environment  Familiarity with international payroll and EOR platforms  Experience supporting equity compensation payroll events  CPP certification is a plus  Compensation Target compensation range: $105,000 – $125,000, depending on experience, location, and qualifications  Why Join B Consulting Work with innovative, high-growth startup clients  Collaborative, entrepreneurial team environment  Opportunity to help build scalable finance and HR operations  Remote, flexible, and impact-driven culture
