Peraton is seeking a Senior API Gateway Engineer for a remote position.  This role may require occasional travel to the client's site in Quantico, VA therefore it is preferred candidate is local to the Washington, D.C Metro area.This an opportunity to use Large Solution Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) agile processes to develop, maintain, integrate, and operate cloud-hosted personnel security and assurance systems and applications, integrating their functionality into a modern system of system.  This effort resulting system development solution supports thousands of users performing a critical national security mission.ResponsibilitiesPerform gateway administration and operations, including configuring and maintaining API gateway virtual appliancesConfigure policies for message transformation, protocol translation and service orchestration24x7 support for troubleshooting issues involving API GatewaysCreate and maintain design documentation, including sequence diagrams and use cases for internal and external useSoftware deployment and patchingCreate update bundles between gateways using the Gateway Migration UtilityCoordinate integration of SiteMinder and other identity providers with the API GatewayDesign and implement API security protocolsOptimize the performance of the API gateway by monitoring and analyzing system logs, identifying bottlenecks and implementing performance tuning measuresCollaborate with other teams and stakeholders to gather requirements and implement new featuresKeep up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies related to API gateways and integrationQualificationsRequired Qualifications:Education: 12 years with BS/BA; 10 years with MS/MA; 7 years with a PhD.  16 years of experience with a HS diploma can be considered in lieu of a degree.Certifications:  Relevant DoD 8570 Security certification (such as CISSP or Security+)Clearance:  Active Secret clearanceRequires in-depth experience with API Gateway, with exposure to ITSM Tools (Remedy, Service Now, JIRA Help Desk etc)Exposure to web services (SOAP, RESTful, XML, JSON, etc.) Knowledge of IT standards, methodologies, system development life cycle and project management frameworks.Local to the Washington DC Metro area (highly preferred)Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of Mulesoft API products (Mulesoft certification desired)Peraton is a next-generation national security company that drives missions of consequence spanning the globe and extending to the farthest reaches of the galaxy. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
