Requirements and responsibilities


Department: Sales. Position Title: Technical Sales Manager - EAF. FLSA: Exempt, Full-time. Reports to: President and CEO. Position Summary: The Technical Sales Manager - EAF role is responsible for driving sales growth, developing customer relationships, and providing technical solutions for Electrical Arc Furnace (EAF) equipment and related steelmaking systems. This role combines commercial leadership with deep technical expertise in melt shop operations, furnace systems, and process optimization. The individual will work closely with steel producers, engineering teams, and operations personnel to deliver value-driven solutions that improve productivity, efficiency, reliability, and safety. Key Responsibilities: Sales & Business Development: - Develop and execute strategic sales plans for EAF equipment, upgrades, aftermarket services, and process solutions. - Identify and pursue new business opportunities within steel mills, foundries, and related heavy industrial markets. - Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting and technical evaluation through proposal development, negotiation, and contract closure. - Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing customers while expanding market share. - Represent the company at industry conferences, trade shows, and customer events. Technical Support & Solution Development: - Provide technical expertise related to: - Electrical Arc Furnaces (EAF). - Furnace transformers. - Electrode regulation systems. - Water-cooled panels. - Furnace automation and controls. - Power systems and harmonics. - Charging systems and auxiliary equipment. - Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to develop customized customer solutions. - Conduct technical presentations, equipment demonstrations, and process evaluations. - Assist customers in identifying operational improvements related to productivity, energy consumption, refractory life, and furnace performance. Customer Management: - Serve as the primary commercial and technical liaison for assigned accounts. - Coordinate with project management, engineering, and service teams to ensure successful project execution. - Monitor customer satisfaction and proactively resolve technical or commercial concerns. Market Intelligence & Strategy: - Track market trends, competitor activity, and emerging technologies within the steel and metals industry. - Provide input into product development and strategic growth initiatives. - Prepare sales forecasts, market analyses, and account development plans. Qualifications: Education: - Bachelor’s degree in: - Electrical Engineering. - Metallurgical Engineering. - Mechanical Engineering. - Industrial Engineering. - Or related technical field. Experience: - 5+ years of experience in: - Electrical Arc Furnace Operations. - Steel Mill Equipment Sales. - Melt Shop Engineering. - Industrial Technical Sales. - Proven track record of technical sales success preferred. Technical Knowledge: - Strong understanding of: - EAF steelmaking processes. - Steel mill operations and maintenance practices. - Industrial power distribution systems. - Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and process data. Skills & Competencies: - Strong communication and presentation skills. - Ability to translate complex technical concepts into customer-focused solutions. - Commercial negotiation and contract management capabilities. - Technical proposal writing and presentation skills. - Excellent organizational and project coordination skills. - Self-motivated with the ability to manage travel and customer priorities independently. Travel Requirements: - Ability to travel 40–70% domestically and internationally to customer sites, conferences, and project meetings. - Base Territory – Arkansas, Tennessee, Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. Territory will focus on Southern half of United States and may extend beyond this area. Company has a facility in Bay Minette, AL which could serve as home base. Candidate will spend majority of time in the Southeast and Southwest covering primarily TX, AR, AL, SC, & MS primarily. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with: - DC and AC EAF systems. - Ladle furnaces. - Secondary metallurgy equipment. - Energy optimization systems. - Existing relationships within the North American steel industry. - Knowledge of OEM and aftermarket service models.
