Workster is partnering with a leading global technology and professional services firm to recruit an experienced Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Operations Engineer for its international cloud engineering practice in Sofia, Bulgaria.Join a diverse and collaborative cloud operations team responsible for the availability, reliability and operational excellence of large-scale GCP environments for enterprise clients. In this role you will operate, automate and optimise GCP infrastructure and platform services, support CI/CD and SRE practices, and collaborate with engineering, security and product teams to deliver resilient cloud solutions.Your RoleOperate and maintain production GCP environments, ensuring availability, performance and scalability for critical applications and servicesImplement and manage Infrastructure as Code using tools such as Terraform, Deployment Manager or similar, enabling repeatable and auditable deploymentsBuild, maintain and optimise CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation using tools like Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI or equivalentDesign and implement monitoring, alerting and observability solutions using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, Prometheus, Grafana and related toolingTroubleshoot and resolve production incidents; perform root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive actions to improve system reliabilityManage networking, load balancing, VPN/Interconnect, VPCs, Cloud DNS and related GCP networking componentsConfigure and operate compute, storage and database services (Compute Engine, GKE, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, BigQuery) following best practices for security and cost optimisationImplement and maintain identity, access and security controls using Cloud IAM, Secrets Manager, KMS, and integrate with enterprise identity providersAutomate operational tasks and runbooks with scripting (Python, Bash, Go) and orchestration frameworks to reduce manual toilParticipate in on-call rotations and provide timely incident response and incident communications to stakeholdersCollaborate with developers, platform engineers and security teams to support continuous improvement, capacity planning and cost managementProduce and maintain high-quality operational documentation, runbooks, architecture diagrams and post-incident reportsContribute to cloud migration, modernisation and platform standardisation programmes, helping to define operational standards and best practicesYour QualificationsProven experience as a Cloud Operations or Site Reliability Engineer, with hands-on operational experience in Google Cloud PlatformPractical experience with GCP services including GKE, Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Cloud IAM and networking componentsExperience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred) and configuration management toolsStrong scripting skills (Python, Bash, Go or similar) and experience automating operational tasksExperience building and maintaining observability and monitoring (Cloud Monitoring, Logging, Prometheus, Grafana) and managing alerts and SLIs/SLOsFamiliarity with CI/CD practices and tools (Cloud Build, Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo CD) and container orchestration (Kubernetes/GKE)Good understanding of cloud networking, security controls, identity management and encryption best practicesProven ability to troubleshoot production incidents, perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixesStrong communication and collaboration skills with experience working in cross-functional and international teamsRelevant certifications (e.g. Google Cloud Professional Cloud Engineer, Professional Cloud Security Engineer, or equivalent) are advantageousBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, IT or a related field, or equivalent practical experienceFluent English (C1 or above); knowledge of Bulgarian is advantageous but not requiredThe OfferHybrid working model: 3 days in the office and 2 days working from homeCompetitive remuneration package aligned with experience and market ratesHome office allowance25 days of paid annual leaveAdditional private health insuranceFood vouchersPublic transportation cardEmployee Assistance Program (Mental Health, Legal & Financial Counselling)Optional parking spaceMultisport cardModern office in a Class A business building in SofiaComprehensive training, mentorship and career development supportAccess to over 15,000 LinkedIn Learning courses to support professional developmentOpportunity to work on international cloud transformation projects within a company that values diversity, inclusion, sustainability and mutual trust
