The Association of State and Territorial Dental Directors (ASTDD) is a dynamic non-profit organization committed we are committed to supporting state and territorial oral health programs that are located in state and territorial public health programs. ASTDD began in 1948. They are an Affiliate of the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials. Over the years ASTDD has expanded its mission and built a diverse membership which not only includes state and territorial dental directors and their staff but dental professionals, government employees, public health professionals and those interested in improving access to oral health care. ASTDD develops and creates programs and initiatives to: • Formulate and promote strong public oral health policy. • Promote a strong governmental infrastructure and workforce in each state and territory. • Increase awareness of oral health issues and innovative approaches to prevent and treat oral disease. • Assist in developing and implementing strategies for prevention and control of oral diseases. • Developing position papers and policy statements. • Provides guidance and resources to oral health to health officials and policy makers. • Conducts conferences, webinars, and ongoing educational programs to inform its membership and he dental and medical community of innovative thinking and advancements in the field of oral public health.
