Responsibilities and deliverables

The Hiring Manager, Software Development & Engineering will provide hiring support to the BASICs project. Deliverables include: • Design a hiring process to identify the best applicant(s) for our five open software development and engineering roles on BASICS (see at bottom left: https://globaltech.internews.org/our-resources/basics ) • As part of final candidate selection, account for strong preference for lived experience in Internet environments facing challenges emerging from electricity and bandwidth limitations, censorship, surveillance, and other oppressive, anti-open-internet activities; • Lead the hiring process for BASICS developers and engineers, including participating in all interviews and candidates reviews; • Coordinate with relevant open source tool teams participating in BASICS to ensure they are part of the interview process; • Answer questions from the Program Officer and Program Associate, drawing upon contractor's areas of technical expertise; • Support the Program Officer in selecting a final candidate for each open development and engineering position.
