Requirements and responsibilities

About IPinfoIPinfo provides IP geolocation and network data trusted by developers and enterprises worldwide, powering everything from fraud prevention to content personalization. We run infrastructure that serves massive query volumes with strict latency and uptime requirements, reliability isn't a nice-to-have here, it's the product.About The RoleWe're looking for a hands-on Infrastructure Manager to lead our infra team. This isn't a purely strategic or people-management role, we need someone who still enjoys being in the weeds: debugging a noisy alert at 2 AM, reviewing a Terraform PR, or getting on a call mid-incident to help mitigate a DDoS attack in real time. You'll own the reliability, scalability, and security of infrastructure that handles high-volume, latency-sensitive traffic at global scale, while growing and mentoring a small team of engineers. What You'll DoLead and mentor the infrastructure team while remaining directly involved in architecture, coding, and operationsOwn the design and evolution of infrastructure serving high-throughput, low-latency workloads at scaleLead DDoS mitigation strategy and incident response from architecture-level protections to live handling of active attacksDrive capacity planning, cost optimization, and performance tuning across the stackImprove observability, alerting, and on-call practices to reduce time-to-detect and time-to-resolveOwn infrastructure security posture in collaboration with the security functionBalance team growth and process maturity with the need to keep shipping and firefighting when it mattersParticipate in on-call rotationWhat We're Looking For8+ years in infrastructure/SRE/platform engineering roles, including significant hands-on scaling experience5+ years of experience managing or leading an infrastructure/SRE team, while staying technically hands-onProven experience defending large-scale services against DDoS attacks (mitigation strategies, tooling, live incident response not just theoretical knowledge)Deep experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), networking fundamentals (BGP, DNS, CDN, load balancing), and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Ansible, etc.)Strong Linux systems knowledge and experience operating distributed, high-availability systems at scaleTrack record of leading incident response for critical, customer-facing infrastructureComfortable balancing technical depth with people leadership as this role is genuinely bothExcellent communication skills; able to explain technical trade-offs to both engineers and leadershipNice to HaveExperience with high-volume API infrastructure or data-heavy platformsFamiliarity with Anycast networking and edge/CDN architecturesBackground in a company that has weathered significant/sustained DDoS campaignsContributions to open-source infra tooling
