We’re seeking a highly skilled Senior Mobile Engineer to join our growing team and contribute to our mission of launching the next wave of successful startups.
As a Senior Mobile Engineer at UPLabs, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and deploying robust software solutions. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product managers, designers, and other engineers to deliver high-quality products that align with business goals. Your expertise will help shape the technical direction of multiple projects within our venture ecosystem.
In this role you will:
* Own the full lifecycle of mobile app development — from architecture and prototyping to production launch and post-release iteration.
* Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and backend engineers to transform business workflows into intuitive, high-performance mobile experiences.
* Design and implement offline-first capabilities including secure local storage, background sync, and seamless recovery for forms, media, and user activity.
* Lead implementation of core mobile features such as authentication (SSO, token refresh, session management), push notifications, and secure credential handling via Keychain/Keystore.
* Ensure app stability, safety, and performance through accessible design, analytics/telemetry, media handling (photo/video capture, uploads, compression), and reporting features.
* Manage operational excellence: automated testing, app store submissions, provisioning/certificates, and compliance with Apple/Google policies.
* Represent mobile engineering in product planning and architecture discussions, proactively identifying risks, tradeoffs, and technical blockers.
Required Skills and Expertise:
* Proven ability to independently ship, maintain, and iterate on production mobile apps.
* Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
* Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, agile environment, with the capability to drive frontend and backend technical designs.
* 5+ years of professional mobile development experience, including leading ownership of at least one production app on the App Store and/or Google Play and/or Enterprise MDM channel.
* Strong expertise with modern cross-platform framework (React Native), complemented by a solid grasp of platform-specific capabilities (iOS/Android), and integration experience with REST APIs and GraphQL APIs.
* Experience working with React for web solutions.
* Proven ability to design and ship offline-first mobile experiences, including local databases, background sync, and deferred uploads.
* Deep knowledge of authentication and security best practices, including SSO integrations, token refresh flows, and persistent session management.
* Hands-on experience with mobile deployment pipelines — from provisioning and certificates to app store policy compliance and enterprise/MDM distribution.
* Strong track record working in startup or rapidly evolving environments, with the ability to prioritize, execute independently, and clearly communicate tradeoffs to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills and Expertise:
* Familiarity with accessibility best practices (WCAG, screen reader, high contrast).
* Past experience in safety-critical, compliance-driven, or regulated mobile products (e.g. healthcare, aviation, finance).
* Experience with enterprise device management (MDM), advanced platform-specific security, or flight/operations apps.
