Responsibilities

The KS1 Coordinator will play a key role in the development of the Junior School as it launches. The role combines classroom teaching with responsibility for leading and coordinating Key Stage 1 across the school. The successful candidate will be an excellent primary practitioner who can deliver high quality teaching while supporting colleagues, curriculum development, and the establishment of strong systems and standards within KS1. Essential requirements • A Bachelor’s degree from a recognised university • A recognised teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed, QTS or equivalent) • Strong knowledge of the UK Key Stage 1 curriculum and early primary pedagogy • Proven ability to deliver engaging and effective classroom teaching • Understanding of UK safeguarding and child protection procedures • Strong communication, ICT and organisational skills • Ability to support pupils with different abilities and language backgrounds • Commitment to professional development and collaboration with colleagues Key responsibilities Teaching and learning • Teach a KS1 class and deliver engaging, well planned lessons that support pupil progress and development • Create a safe, inclusive and stimulating classroom environment • Plan learning that meets the needs of all pupils and encourages curiosity and independence • Use assessment effectively to monitor progress and inform next steps in learning • Support pupils’ English language development through effective classroom interaction and strategies Leadership and coordination • Lead and coordinate the delivery of the KS1 curriculum across the year groups • Support the development of high quality teaching and learning within KS1 • Work with colleagues on collaborative planning, curriculum development and assessment • Support the implementation of school policies, systems and expectations within the phase • Monitor pupil progress across KS1 and support colleagues to ensure strong outcomes Wider school contribution • Communicate effectively with parents regarding pupil progress and development • Contribute to the wider life and development of the school • Support the establishment of a positive culture as the Junior School launches Desirable (but not essential) • Experience in a UK independent school or British international school • Previous experience in a phase leadership or coordination role • Experience with international inspection or accreditation frameworks • Familiarity with education technology such as iPads The Junior School will open in August 2026. Early staff will play an important role in shaping the culture, systems and curriculum as the school develops.
