I’m hiring for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high-impact engineering team building scalable pricing, promotion, and optimization platforms used by leading retailers and global brands.What You’ll Work OnBuild and maintain scalable backend services supporting pricing & promotion optimization.Develop complex business logic and production-ready backend solutions.Write and optimize advanced SQL queries, primarily using Snowflake.Partner with Product Managers, Data Scientists, and Engineering teams.Participate in architecture, technical design, code reviews, and production debugging.Drive performance, scalability, reliability, testing, and engineering best practices.Required ExperienceStrong experience as a Backend Software EngineerStrong SQL skills — joins, aggregations, CTEs, window functions & data analysisExperience building production systems with complex business logicRelational database experienceStrong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and ability to explain technical decisions/tradeoffsPreferred SkillsJava / Spring / Spring BootSnowflake or modern data warehousesKubernetes & DockerJenkins / CI/CDAWS, GCP, or AzureAutomated testing / TDDAI-assisted development tools such as Cursor, Claude, GitHub Copilot, etc.Ideal CandidateThink before they codeAsk thoughtful questionsCan explain technical tradeoffsConnect engineering decisions to business outcomesTake ownership of production systemsEnjoy working in a modern AI-augmented engineering environmentPay Rate🇨🇦 Canada: CA$120 to CA$130/hr🇺🇸 USA: $85 to $90/hr
