Requirements and responsibilities

• You would have five main areas of responsibility, in order of importance: • 1. Client Management: nurture collaborative relationships with multiple client teams • As the main point of contact, it all starts with great relationships. You would maintain the pace of engagements, support and guide clients, and exceed expectations. You’d be involved in project scoping, ensuring great project kick-offs and close-outs, coaching via workshops and feedback, and more. • 2. Behavioral Marketing: uncover meaningful insights through research, formulate change strategies, and iterate to arrive at effective interventions. • As a marketer/designer / communicator / behavioral science practitioner, this is where you apply your craft. On any given engagement, you might be leading multilingual field research to uncover barriers and hidden motivators, applying research insights and your knowledge of cognitive biases to form new strategies, accelerating client teams through the build-measure-learn loop, or giving feedback on the creative process, service/product design changes, their communications materials, and more. The direction and accountability you provide all goes towards changing behavior--enhancing a social enterprise team’s ability to make real impact. • 3. Team & Project Management: guide teams to achieve objectives on-budget and on-time. • Achieving optimal results requires disciplined management of resources: budget, time, and people. You’d be responsible for keeping everything on track and getting the best out of others (on the joint Appleseed/Client team). • 4. Refinement of Appleseed’s Methodology: make the work of changing behavior ever more effective and replicable for future clients, partners, and staff. • Since every case we take is unique (diverse social enterprise teams, communities, cultures, challenges, and issue areas), we deliver results by “trusting the process”: relying on our tried-and-true methodology. Appleseed’s methodology has undergone incremental improvements over the years, based on the successes and failures of numerous engagements. We’d look to you to bring these learnings home, to continuously drive innovation. • 5. Support thought leadership: advance Appleseed’s influence as a pioneer in the sector. • Making our vision a reality will require more than achieving extraordinary impact on projects. If we want to see all impact organizations applying behavioral marketing to reach their missions, many things must happen: successful case studies must be spotlighted and shared; funders must expect this work from their portfolio orgs; other behavioral marketing agencies and talent see a business case to start serving this sector. While this won’t happen overnight, we must start providing subject matter expertise to the sector, and continue building a strong network of ecosystem partners. When not working on projects, you would support this effort by being a brand ambassador and producing content (writing / speaking / storytelling).
