Position SummaryThe Accounts Receivable (AR) Specialist is responsible for monitoring incoming payments from referral sources and payors, ensuring adherence to agreed payment plans, and maintaining timely collections. This role actively manages relationships with payment sources, resolves billing discrepancies, and supports financial accuracy and cash flow through consistent follow-up, reconciliation, and communication.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesMonitor and track payments from referral sources and third-party payorsEnsure compliance with established payment plans and timely remittanceConduct recurring meetings and follow-ups with referral and payment sources to maintain accurate account status and resolve concernsIdentify, investigate, and resolve billing discrepancies, underpayments, and payment delaysCommunicate with internal billing and operations teams to address account issuesMaintain detailed and accurate documentation of payment activity, correspondence, and resolutionsReconcile accounts receivable balances and ensure proper posting of paymentsPrepare AR reports and aging summaries as requestedSupport month-end closing and audit processesMaintain compliance with company policies and applicable regulationsRequired QualificationsEducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferredExperienceMinimum 2+ years of accounts receivable, collections, or billing experienceHealthcare revenue cycle or referral-based billing experience preferredSkills & CompetenciesStrong communication and negotiation skillsExcellent organizational and time management abilitiesHigh attention to detail and accuracyStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsProficiency in billing systems, accounting software, EMR/EHR systems, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities in a fast-paced environmentWork Environment & Physical RequirementsOffice or remote work environmentProlonged periods of sitting and computer useAbility to maintain focus for extended periods
