AWS/EMR Cloud Infastructure Lead  to provide technical leadership and hands-on support for cloud-based compute and storage environments used to develop, process, and disseminate protected or sensitive data products for internal, public, or research-oriented use. The position supports high-performance computing workloads, data protection methodologies, application engineering, DevOps practices, and cross-functional project coordination in a cloud-first environment.RESPONSIBILITIES:Provide IT support for cloud-based compute and storage environments used to produce protected data products for research and disseminationAdminister distributed cloud platforms, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and lifecycle management for high-performance workloadsSupport large data processing environments using frameworks such as Apache Spark and optimization toolsEstablish and maintain operational parameters for deploying and executing data processing and dissemination workflowsDesign and optimize cloud storage configurations, including data curation and removal of redundant datasetsImplement high performance computing (HPC), storage, and workflow optimizationsDeploy and manage monitoring and dashboard solutions to track cluster usage, performance, availability, and cost efficiencyOptimize resource utilization by identifying and terminating idle or unused compute resourcesManage user access, including account provisioning, role-based access, and deprovisioningInstall, configure, and maintain software, operating systems, and platform services, including Linux patching and updatesProduce operational and usage reports related to system performance and data storageProvide guidance on cloud cost management, budgeting, and optimization strategiesSupport agile project execution, including sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, and backlog managementMaintain Kanban or sprint boards and track tasks, milestones, and dependenciesCoordinate communication across engineering, operations, data science, and stakeholder teamsIdentify and help resolve technical, operational, and process-related obstaclesProvide guidance on agile best practices and continuous improvementSupport data governance, data quality, and privacy protection requirementsDefine and maintain project roles, responsibilities, and reporting structuresDevelop and manage project schedules, deliverables, risks, and opportunitiesDocument and distribute meeting notes, action items, and decisionsEstablish data transfer governance, standardized intake, validation, error handling, and repeatable evaluation workflowsDevelop and maintain production-ready code, tools, and workflows to support data processing, experimentation, and dissemination, including testing and validation of outputsImplement, monitor, and optimize cloud compute and storage environments, leveraging automation, infrastructure-as-code, and performance tuning for distributed processing frameworksManage source code, system updates, and operational tools, ensuring efficient collaboration, workflow tracking, and reliable execution of production and prototype workloadsREQUIRED:Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experienceExperience supporting AWS EMR cloud-based compute and storage environmentsHands-on experience with distributed data processing frameworks including Apache SparkExperience administering Linux-based systemsProficiency in scripting or programming languages commonly used for automation and data processingExperience with source code management platforms and collaborative development workflowsUnderstanding of cloud cost management and optimization conceptsStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiencesPREFERRED:• AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate or Professional• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional• AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty• Google Professional Data Engineer• Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA)• HashiCorp Terraform Associate• CompTIA Cloud+• CompTIA Security+• Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP)• Project Management Professional (PMP) Work Authorization:Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain or maintain Public Trust (High) clearance.ActioNet is a CMMI-DEV Level 4, CMMI-SVC Level 4, ISO 20000, ISO 27001, ISO 9001, HDI-certified, woman-owned IT Solutions Provider with strong qualifications and expertise in Agile Software Engineering, Cloud Solutions, Cyber Security and IT Managed Services.
