This role supports the deployment of client environments while ensuring that managed database platforms are secure, reliable, and optimized for performance.What You’ll DoDeploy or migrate client environments following the Cloud Adoption Framework, the Well-Architected Framework, and Atmosera’s internal implementation standardsPerform systems engineering across networking platforms, Azure IaaS and PaaS, Windows and Linux servers, hypervisors, storage, and SaaS solutionsAdminister Azure SQL Database environments including provisioning, scaling, configuration, patching, and lifecycle managementManage backup and recovery strategies, including failover groups, geo-replication, point-in-time restore, and long-term retention policiesPerform query and index optimization, manage workloads using Query Store, and implement performance tuning recommendationsSecure Azure SQL environments using RBAC, Private Link, Azure Key Vault, and firewall configurationsIntegrate DevOps principles using ARM templates and Bicep for infrastructure and database automationCreate and maintain documentation including runbooks, operating procedures, and governance modelsCollaborate with internal departments to improve delivery processes and ensure customer successAdhere to compliance requirements including but not limited to PCI-DSS, HIPAA/HITECH, IRS 1075, SOC 1 & SOC 2 Type II, and FedRAMP MediumThis role requires after-hours / on-call support coverage. These instances are infrequent but will be the responsibility of the DBAThe Skills You’ll NeedExperience designing, implementing, and managing Azure cloud infrastructure and databases and infrastructureProficiency in Azure SQL Database administration, including performance diagnostics, resource management, and SLA optimizationFamiliarity with Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, and Application Insights for database health and telemetryKnowledge of indexing strategies, execution plans, and intelligent tuning featuresExperience with networking, storage, backups, orchestration, and configuration managementStrong analytical and documentation skills with a focus on troubleshooting and continuous improvementEffective communication and interpersonal skills with cross-functional teams and clientsSelf-driven with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environmentAwareness of automation, efficiency improvements, and DevOps best practicesA firm grasp of Systems thinking and Engineering principlesQualificationsMinimum 5 years of technical experience in cloud, hosting, or MSP environmentsTechnical certifications in Azure, SQL, Windows, Office 365, Linux, VMware, Cisco, Palo Alto, Bicep, or DevOps are a plusMicrosoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or equivalent certification strongly preferredMicrosoft Azure certifications are required within 90 days of employment based on current certifications and skill levelPreferred: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent job experienceThis is a contractor position with the ability to work from home but may require travel to a client site.
